SOL Arena is PvP Snake Extraction, where casual gaming meets crypto wagering. It combines the simplicity of slither.io with the thrill of crypto.
As our Senior Backend Engineer, youâll work on and create backend systems that power SOL Arenaâfrom real-time multiplayer services to session management and user progression. Youâll collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to build scalable, secure, and reliable services that support gameplay, LiveOps, and future growth.
How you will make an impact
- Build and maintain well-engineered C++ code with high levels of stability and performance
- Implement gameplay mechanics, tools and debug tools supporting gameplay development
- Promote consistent best practices, processes, and procedures for game development, quality assurance, and maintenance
- Build and scale high-load distributed systems with microservice architecture
- Solve interesting problems, from designing and building new systems from scratch to optimizing features to be both performant and scriptable
- Collaborate daily with other team members

Your Character Build
- 7+ years of backend development experience, ideally with real-time or multiplayer systems.
- Strong proficiency in Rust or experience in low-level programming languages with a willingness to learn Rust.
- Experience designing and building scalable, distributed systems.
- Familiarity with infrastructure and tooling, including GitLab CI/GitHub Actions, Terraform, Nomad, Docker, and GCP/AWS/Azure.
- Experience with relational database design; comfortable using ORMs and writing raw SQL queries.
- Clear communication and documentation skills, comfortable collaborating with engineers.
- Bonus: Experience working on multiplayer games.
- Bonus: Exposure to analytics tools, telemetry, or backend systems supporting live game features.
