The Starknet Foundation is a non-profit organisation established to support the development of Starknet, a state-of-the-art layer 2 blockchain network built on top of Ethereum. Our mission is to unlock Ethereum’s scalability and efficiency, making decentralised applications more accessible and effective.

This hands-on, multidisciplinary role involves a mix of strategic and production responsibilities, from defining and leading key initiatives to contributing to a wide array of visual, web, and motion design projects. As the Brand Designer, you will play a crucial role in establishing an efficient and scalable design function, and defining how the Starknet story will be told to the world. As the key individual contributor and a highly trusted partner on the team, you will collaborate with designers to deliver innovative design solutions and work with cross-functional teams and external partners to understand and execute project goals and requirements.

Responsibilities:
• As the second Design hire, partner with the Head of Design to establish and build Starknet’s design function.
• Have a strong influence on Starknet’s story, actively contributing to its foundational brand voice and visual identity.
• Serve as the key individual contributor, handling all aspects of production design from branding systems to marketing materials.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand and execute project goals and requirements.
• Define, lead, and contribute to the execution of key creative strategies for Starknet.
• Oversee the output of brand and web design from external partners, ensuring adherence to Starknet’s principles of scalability, consistency, and quality.
• Provide artistic direction, support, mentorship, and feedback to designers, contractors, and external partners.
• Monitor and identify opportunities to enhance design strategies, guidelines, systems, and standards.
• Partner with colleagues across the organisation and proactively contribute ideas to achieve team goals and strategy.
• Stay updated with industry trends and competitor activities to inform and refine Starknet’s creative strategies and overall visual design system.

Requirements:
• A passion for storytelling, and 8+ years of relevant design or art direction experience for technical and product-driven projects or organisations.
• A keen interest in the web3 industry and its brands.
• A strong portfolio that showcases all your brand work and skills. A peek at design guidelines and systems you heavily contributed to would be ideal.
• Proficient knowledge of formal design principles.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proven experience leading key design projects from conception to delivery.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality work in multidisciplinary fields, such as visual design and web design. Knowledge of motion design is a big plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Suite, especially Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Knowledge of After Effects, WordPress, or Webflow is a huge plus.
• Clean and clear aesthetics optimised around modern design standards for developer tools and technology products.
• Ability to take technical/complex concepts and explain them artfully and simply using design as a resource.
• Experience taking initiative, working independently, actively resolving issues, and taking ownership of projects.
• Feel comfortable working on broadly defined concepts as well as executing narrowly defined deliverables.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, always changing environment.
• Experience working with distributed teams.
