About The Role:
As our first hire in Seoul, you will be joining our core blockchain engineering team focused on User Interface and building our presence in Seoul. You will apply your experience in web2 on both OSS work around IBC (https://ibcprotocol.org/) and the core Polymer protocol. Web3 and blockchain experience is explicitly not required but is a strong plus.

You Will:

    • Primarily be using React and TypeScript, focusing on the UIs of an OSS dashboard for IBC, and other Polymer specific ones.
    • Implementing initial prototypes and proofs of concept, and taking them all the way to production interfacing with developers building on the future standard networking layer of web3.
    • Focus on improving developer UX through the OSS IBC dashboard.
    • Maintain integrations with our work on an OSS IBC-SDK and other tooling.
    • Maintaining a robust suite of tests to ensure that the UI functionality of our products is of the highest quality.

What You Will Achieve:

    • In the first month, you will build a deep understanding of Polymer Lab’s core protocol and begin contributing to documentation of the product. You will have time to learn about the space, our customer’s needs, and the underlying technology.
    • Within 2 months, you will be fully integrated into the team and own the development of the OSS IBC dashboard. Success looks like sustainable growth and scaling the adoption of IBC and Polymer’s IBC transport hub.

You Have:

    • 5+ years of Frontend and/or Full Stack development utilizing HTML5 and JavaScript.
    • Experience with React or similar interactive web UI libraries.
    • A passion for growing and up-leveling your peers, and have pre-existing mentoring experience and a nuanced view around how to help junior engineers grow
    • Degree in Computer Science or related field.
    • Experience working with distributed development and engineering teams.
    • Exposure to start-up or scale-up environment.
    • Interest in infrastructure, crypto, DeFi or willing to learn quickly.
    • Strong communication skills and fluent in English (written and spoken).

About The Team:

    • The engineering team is a diverse group of people with backgrounds working at a variety of both web2 and web3 organizations like Google, Uber, Chronosphere, Arista Networks, etc. Polymer Labs is a software development shop supporting the Polymer protocol and IBC (https://ibcprotocol.org/).

Our Benefits:

    • Competitive salary, equity/token grants, incentive compensation
    • Autonomous, distributed work environment collaborating with a diverse, global team
    • Opportunity to shape and contribute to industry-disrupting infrastructure
    • A place to openly learn bleeding edge innovation in a fast growing industry
    • Health insurance coverage
    • Free lunches
Polymer Labs is an equal opportunity employer. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't line up exactly with the job description.

How do I get a job at DeFi?

Getting a job in the DeFi (decentralized finance) industry can be a competitive process, but there are a few steps you can take to increase your chances of finding a job in this field:

  1. Build up your skills and knowledge: To work in DeFi, you'll likely need to have a strong understanding of blockchain technology, as well as other related technologies such as smart contracts and cryptocurrency. Consider taking online courses or earning a degree in a relevant field to build up your skills and knowledge.
  2. Network with industry professionals: Attend meetups and conferences related to DeFi and make connections with professionals in the industry. Networking can be a valuable way to learn about job openings and get your foot in the door at a DeFi company.
  3. Create a strong online presence: Many DeFi companies will look at your online presence (such as your LinkedIn profile and personal website) when considering you for a job. Make sure to showcase your skills and accomplishments online and keep your profile up to date.
  4. Apply for relevant job openings: Keep an eye out for job openings at DeFi companies and apply for positions that align with your skills and experience. Apply for DeFi Jobs without Experience. Tailor your resume and cover letter to the specific job you're applying for and highlight any relevant experience or skills you have.
  5. Consider internships or volunteer work: DeFi Internships or volunteer work can be a great way to get your foot in the door and gain valuable experience in the DeFi industry. Many companies also offer internships to students, so consider applying for an internship if you're still in school.
  6. Be persistent: keep trying if you don't get a job right away. It can take time to find the right opportunity, but with the right skills and determination, you can land a job in the DeFi industry.
