About Polygon Labs

Polygon Labs is a software development company building and developing a network of aggregated blockchains via the Agglayer, secured by Ethereum. As public infrastructure, the Agglayer will bring together user bases and liquidity for any connected chain, and leverage Ethereum as a settlement layer. Polygon Labs has also contributed to the core development of several widely-adopted scaling protocols and tools for launching blockchains, including Agglayer CDK, Polygon PoS & Katana.

Your Role

As the Engineering Manager for the Payments team at Polygon Labs, you’ll lead the development of greenfield fintech infrastructure from the ground up. This is an opportunity to define and build scalable payments systems, covering wallets, on/off ramps, KYC, FX, and programmable flows in an environment where compliance, performance, and user experience are all first-class priorities. You’ll play a key role in scaling the team, shaping the technical culture and engineering standards for a high-impact product line. If you’re excited to lead a team building next-generation payment rails abstracted from blockchain complexity, this role is for you.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a high-performing team of engineers focused on building secure and compliant payments infrastructure.

  • Define and implement the architecture for core financial systems, including KYC/AML integrations, on/off ramps, transaction flows, and currency conversion.

  • Collaborate with Product and Design teams to translate complex financial requirements into elegant, scalable backend systems.

  • Establish engineering best practices and processes for testing, CI/CD, documentation, and monitoring in a regulated environment.

  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and career development for engineers; foster an inclusive, high-accountability team culture.

  • Partner cross-functionally to align technical execution with business goals, delivering iteratively while planning for scale.

What You’ll Need

  • 6+ years of backend software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing teams.

  • Strong proficiency in GoLang and building production-grade APIs or distributed systems.

  • Experience in payments or fintech domains such as KYC/AML, FX, digital wallets, or on/off ramp integration.

  • Demonstrated ability to scale engineering teams and establish high technical and operational standards.

  • Track record of delivering secure, compliant software systems in regulated environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in early-stage or greenfield product environments.

  • Familiarity with financial compliance standards across different jurisdictions.

  • Passion for abstracting complex infrastructure into developer-friendly platforms.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across Product, Legal, and Design stakeholders.
