🚀 Whatnot

Whatnot is a livestream shopping platform and marketplace backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, and CapitalG. We’re building the future of ecommerce, bringing together community, shopping and entertainment. We are committed to our values, and as a remote-first team, we operate out of hubs within the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, and Germany today.

We’re innovating in the fast-paced world of live auctions in categories including sports, fashion, video games, and streetwear. The platform couples rigorous seller vetting with a focus on community to create a welcoming space for buyers and sellers to share their passions with others.

And, we’re growing. Whatnot has been the fastest growing marketplace in the US over the past two years and we’re hiring forward-thinking problem solvers across all functional areas.

💻 Role

Product Infrastructure engineers at Whatnot are key to allowing us to build new products and features quickly and reliably, constantly catering towards our fast growing business. To achieve our ambitious scaling goals, we are investing in building a world class product infrastructure. We foster collaborative culture, where product engineering teams work very closely with the infrastructure teams. We ship new features quickly to our users, but we don’t want to compromise the long term stability of our platform. Our business is scaling very quickly, and we're looking for passionate engineers who can help our infra match the growth of the company! The software team has a lot of individual responsibility and many more freedoms, so we need to hire people we can trust. Your ability to translate product strategy into a sound system design is essential to us.

👋 You

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of at least 3 languages (we primarily use Python, Elixir, JavaScript, and are open to others).
  • Excellent ability to translate product requirements to a scalable system. You first think about users rather than the best technical solution.
  • You are known for high quality of your engineering designs.
  • You’re an excellent problem solver and don’t need to be told exactly what to do.
  • Comfortable working across the stack (backend and frontend).
  • Ability to pick up on new technologies very quickly.
  • Proven track record of delivering features.
  • AWS/DevOps experience
  • Startup experience at a high-growth company.
