Role Overview...

As a Backend Development Leader, you will play a critical hands-on role in designing, developing, and scaling the backend architecture of our OTT Video SaaS platform while extending it into the Web3 ecosystem. This position requires a blend of deep technical expertise, leadership skills, and forward-thinking curiosity to guide a team of backend engineers into new frontiers of blockchain-based video, tokenized assets, and decentralized infrastructure.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product, Web3 specialists, and blockchain partners—to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative solutions that enhance BitKernel’s global reach.

What You'll Own...

Lead and Collaborate: Lead a team of developers in building and optimizing server-side logic using Kotlin and Java.

Architectural Design: Design and implement scalable, microservices architectures.

Integration: Integrate user-facing elements with backend services, working closely with front-end developers.

Code Optimization: Develop reusable code libraries and optimize applications for performance and scalability.

Data Management: Implement and maintain data storage solutions, ensuring data integrity and availability.

Code Reviews: Conduct thorough code reviews upholding quality standards and fostering a cohesive development environment.

Mentorship: Mentor and coach junior engineers, promoting a learning-focused team culture.

Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and debug complex issues to enhance performance and reliability.

Innovation: Stay at the forefront of industry trends, bringing innovative ideas to our platform.

Web3 & Blockchain Development

• Explore and integrate blockchain protocols (Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, etc.) for content rights, digital identity, and tokenization.
• Develop smart contracts for monetization models (subscriptions, pay-per-view, NFTs, micropayments).
• Implement decentralized storage solutions (IPFS, Filecoin, Arweave) for secure media delivery.
  
  

• 10+ years of backend development experience, with proven leadership in SaaS or OTT platforms.
• Top-Tier Education: You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from a 4-yr accredited institution globally ranked in the top 500 universities.Strong expertise in Java, Kotlin, Spring Cloud, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Experience architecting cloud-native microservices (AWS/GCP preferred).
• Deep knowledge of databases (SQL, NoSQL, Redis, Ignite).
• Solid understanding of security protocols and best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and grow a high-performing engineering team.
• Hands-on experience with blockchain development (Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Hyperledger, etc.).
• Familiarity with smart contract languages (Solidity, Rust, Go).
• Experience with decentralized identity frameworks (DID, SSI).
• Knowledge of NFT standards (ERC-721, ERC-1155) and digital asset monetization models.
• Understanding of decentralized storage and CDN solutions (IPFS, Filecoin, Arweave).
  
  

• Video Streaming: Experience with live or VOD video streaming platforms.
• Multimedia: Familiarity with multimedia codecs (AVC, HEVC, VP9) and DRM systems (PlayReady, Widevine).
• Technology: Knowledge of Kotlin, C++, and blockchain/Web3 technologies.
