About Us

Parity is one of the world's most experienced teams developing core blockchain infrastructure at the protocol level, building the open-source technologies that will lay the foundation for the new decentralised internet. Parity was founded by Dr. Gavin Wood, co-founder and former CTO of Ethereum, the primary engineer behind the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), inventor of the Solidity programming language, and primary author of the Ethereum Yellowpaper.

We believe in a decentralised web that respects the freedom and data of individuals and empowers developers to create better services. Our vision is to create a world based on truthful, rather than trustful, interactions.

With a remote-first, global team, Parity is building open-source technologies for developers and organisations to implement and build upon. Our Web3 tech stack includes Polkadot, Substrate, and Kusama.

People in our collective are

  • Highly motivated to contribute to Parity’s mission and be part of something bigger

  • Excited to work on projects that are groundbreaking and complex

  • Autonomous workers that self-initiate, but also collaborate well with others

  • Taking maximum accountability and having minimum ego at work

  • Comfortable with chaos and adapting to the ever-changing Web3 space

  • Continuously educating themselves about Parity and the wider ecosystem

About the team

The Polkadot Runtime team is responsible for the business logic of Polkadot and the tools to work with it. These range from lower level design like FRAME macros, to messaging formats like XCM, to applications like bridges, to system architecture.

About the position

At Parity Technologies, we’re redefining how the world interacts with Polkadot. Our greenfield Mobile App team is on a mission to build the most seamless, secure, and cutting-edge digital wallet experience across web and native platforms.

Imagine shaping the future of Polkadot’s user experience through beautifully crafted mobile and desktop apps. You’ll be building modular, performant, and intuitive applications - everything from full-featured wallets to standalone staking and payment systems.

Architect & Build – Lead the design and development of high-performance mobile and desktop applications and modules across iOS, Android, and Electron.

Bridge Web2 and Web3 – Collaborate with external development partners and Parity teams to deliver seamless UX that aligns with traditional fintech standards while embracing decentralised systems.

Lead & Scale – Set the technical vision, mentor developers, and lay the foundation for what will grow into a 30-person development team.

Create Beautiful UX – Collaborate with design to shape intuitive, secure, and accessible Web3 user experiences.

Innovate & Optimise – Drive innovation in areas like gas fee optimisation, secure signing, and cross-chain interoperability.

Own the Stack – Guide architecture across mobile, backend, and desktop, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.

Collaborate Globally – Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders across multiple time zones to deliver high-impact, user-centric solutions.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Solid experience leading engineering teams in mobile app development (iOS/Android).

  • Strong product sense - able to connect user needs to technical implementation and product vision.

  • Hands-on experience with mobile-first architecture and backend service integrations

  • Strategic thinking - you understand go-to-market strategies, user acquisition, and retention drivers.

  • Familiarity with Web3 technologies, or strong motivation to learn and work in the decentralised space.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a remote-first environment.

Bonus Points

  • Experience building or maintaining wallet apps or other security-sensitive fintech tools.

  • Familiarity with blockchain ecosystems like Polkadot, Substrate, or Ethereum.

  • Contributions to open-source projects, especially in the Web3 space.

  • Understanding of DeFi, zero-trust architecture, and cross-chain protocols.

Tech Stack

  • Mobile: Swift (iOS), Kotlin (Android)

  • Backend: Node.js, GraphQL, Go, Firebase

  • Security: Secure Enclave, biometric auth, end-to-end encryption

  • Desktop (secondary): Electron, TypeScript, JavaScript

  • DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines

  • Blockchain/Protocols: Substrate, Polkadot SDK, Polkadot.js, Ethereum Web3.js, Rust

About you

People who join the team should:

  • Work autonomously and solve problems independently;

  • Collaborate with others in an open-source culture, work well with peer review as a reviewer and reviewee;

  • Possess a good understanding of system design and an ability to work with complex systems;

  • Take ownership of their work and be responsible for outcomes. They know that finishing a project doesn’t mean finishing the first version of the code. They evangelise their work and seek and incorporate feedback;

About working for us

  • Competitive remuneration packages based on iterative market research, including tokens (where legally possible)

  • “Future of work” environment that’s remote-first and self-initiating with flexible hours

  • Teammates that are genuinely excited about their impact and projects

  • Access to the brightest minds in this space to learn about Web3 and develop your skills and knowledge while on the job

  • Becoming part of the wider ecosystem (career and networking opportunities)

  • Team and company-wide retreats

  • Work laptop

Those joining our collective as an employee in Germany, Portugal, Switzerland and the U.K. also enjoy benefits such as health care, parental leave, PTO (28 days per year), local team events, yearly L&D budget, and language classes.

Parity is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We welcome diversity in our global team and care about everyone in our collective feeling included and welcome.

Is Kotlin a good career?

Yes, Kotlin is a good career choice for developers who want to work in the Android app development, backend development, or cross-platform development space

Kotlin is a modern programming language that was designed to improve upon some of the shortcomings of Java, making it more concise, safe, and interoperable with other languages

Here are some reasons why Kotlin is a good career choice:

  1. High Demand: Kotlin is in high demand in the technology industry, especially in the Android app development space. Many companies are now using Kotlin to develop their Android apps, and the demand for Kotlin developers is growing rapidly.
  2. Compatibility: Kotlin is interoperable with Java, which means that developers can use both languages in the same project. This makes it easy for developers to migrate from Java to Kotlin and vice versa, and it also makes it easier to integrate Kotlin into existing Java-based projects.
  3. Easy to Learn: Kotlin is relatively easy to learn for developers who are already familiar with Java or other similar programming languages. Kotlin has a simpler syntax than Java, making it easier to read and write code.
  4. Concise and Safe: Kotlin is a more concise language than Java, which means that developers can write less code to achieve the same functionality. Additionally, Kotlin has built-in null safety features that help developers avoid common errors and bugs.
  5. Career Growth: Kotlin is a relatively new language, which means that there is a lot of room for growth and innovation. Developers who are proficient in Kotlin have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the language and its ecosystem, which can lead to career growth and advancement.
