As our first design hire, you will report to the Chief Product Officer. Your work will shape our product design strategy from the ground up. You will develop a deep understanding of our customer’s needs and lead UX design for Symbiont’s blockchain platform and financial applications built on top. We seek an experienced leader who can collaborate cross-functionally to create the future infrastructure for financial markets. We are seeking someone who is independent, responsible, self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, a fast learner and comfortable working across teams and across multiple projects in a dynamic environment to produce mission-critical software of the highest quality.

This role sits within Symbiont’s product management organization, which oversees product strategy and delivery success for Assembly, multiple applications where we apply blockchain technology to financial markets use cases and a software development toolkit for external developers. You will interface with stakeholders, including clients, product managers, engineers, and delivery managers. Our clients are large financial institutions, and the role will require engagement with their business, technology and operations teams. The initial focus will be on performing a design and user experience audit across our applications and to prioritize future design work. This role has the primary responsibility for ensuring that the solutions we create to our customers’ problems are both compelling and usable.

What You'll Do

• Set design direction for Symbiont’s products with product management and engineering
• Design intuitive and simple experiences for web applications to support workflows spanning financial institutions and functions (front, middle and back office)
• Create designs in the form of process flows, user journeys, wireframes, story maps and prototypes
• Evaluate designs with customers to refine and improve Symbiont’s solutions
• Establish best practices, guidelines and standards for design tools and processes

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience with demonstrated ability to drive end-to-end design process from inception through delivery and beyond over multiple releases
• Experience with user-centered approach for product design process
• Experience designing applications within financial markets or related industry
• Strong communications, presentation skills to build organizational alignment
• Comfortable with high level of autonomy, fast-paced environments, and technical products
• Able to provide and receive hard feedback to drive our vision forward

Salary Range:

• $130,000 - $170,000
