Your mission:

The Payments Infrastructure team is part of Bitpanda’s Trade Hub solution. This team’s main focus is to provide users with a wide range of payment solutions from best-in-class payment providers and enable a smooth entry to Bitpanda’s trading experience for users from different countries using different currencies.

As a Lead Engineer at Bitpanda, you will be responsible for driving tech initiatives in the team, identifying dependencies, aligning with stakeholders, mentoring team members, and ensuring the quality and timely delivery of our solutions. This role requires a combination of strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a dedication to collaboration and continuous improvement.

What you’ll do:

• Collaborate with product managers, principal engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Work with our principal engineers to design and develop scalable, resilient, message-driven services.
• Write clean and correct code with high test coverage and extensive testing
• Optimise systems to ensure reliability, performance, scalability and maintainability
• Build strong relationships with cross functional teams.
• Actively participate in recruitment efforts by interviewing and assessing potential candidates for the development team.

Who you are:

• Knowledge and experience in software development with Java 11+
• You have worked with PHP in the past
• Knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases, preferably Postgres and MongoDB
• Experience creating and maintaining publicly available REST APIs
• Practical knowledge in using message-oriented middleware (Apache Kafka)
• Know-how in using CI/CD and familiarity with AWS will be advantageous
