Exponent Labs is building Exponent, a leading DeFi protocol on Solana for onchain interest rates. To date, it’s achieved $400M+ in interest rate volume in H1 2025 across 25k+ users, with 1-2k daily active users, and integrations with leading Solana protocols such as Jito, Kamino, and Drift.

Exponent makes interest rate markets on Solana more accessible to participants, offering fixed, predictable rate and speculative yield products for a broad range of users. It serves as the backbone of the onchain yield economy, no longer tailored solely to risk-averse participants but to anyone looking to generate returns on their money through financial markets as modern as the internet.

Role overview

We’re looking for a Business Development Lead to join our growing team as we enter our next phase of growth. Your focus will be on bringing in new large stakeholders to use Exponent for their DeFi operations, including crypto-native funds and asset managers, DATs, HNWIs, and other institutional participants, as well as work with protocol partners on strategic growth partnerships.

This role spans partnerships, growth, sales, and customer success. It’s best suited for someone who thrives on autonomy, enjoys wearing many hats, and wants real ownership in what they build. You should love talking about DeFi, understand how large crypto players operate and make decisions, and be excited to sell, pitch, and be on the phone every day.

What you’ll do in your day-to-day role

• Establish new strategic relationships and manage existing ones (protocol partners, DeFi funds, DATs, whales, etc.).
• Develop and execute strategies for business growth, driving more capital and volume into Exponent.
• Build a network of institutional DeFi players in the space to make them aware of Exponent and its role in their portfolio construction.
• Drive product adoption by understanding customer needs and identifying how to expand their DeFi portfolio exposure to Exponent for fixed rates and yield trading.
• Understand and translate customer needs into product feedback.

Role requirements

• Strong written and verbal communication skills — from pitching a fund to writing a proposal or handling customer onboarding.
• Deep understanding of the DeFi space and its players and products, and how to communicate about them effectively.
• Capable of selling complex products and tailoring the pitch to different stakeholder types (funds, partners, treasuries, etc.).
• Stay up to date on the latest trends in DeFi and finance, with a strong grasp of the evolving crypto yield landscape.
• Resourceful and proactive mindset with a high degree of ownership over your responsibilities. You don’t wait for instructions to take action and execute.
