Role
As a Backend Data Engineer at Zap, you will work on a diverse range of projects, focusing on back-end technologies, data infrastructure, social graphs, data science, SQL queries, and real-time data feeds. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance backend services and APIs, as well as integrating with third-party vendors to provide data for our platform. Shipping features quickly and with minimal friction is a core belief at Zap. This role is ideal for highly driven individuals with experience in data infrastructure, SQL, and real-time data processing, who are comfortable wearing multiple hats when needed.
Responsibilities
- Service Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs
- Data Architecture Management: Design and manage data architecture, ensuring that data systems are scalable, efficient, and secure
- Social Graph Projects: Work on projects involving social network analysis and the construction of social graphs
- Data Pipeline Development: Build data pipelines from different data sources using various data types like API, CSV, JSON, etc
- Web Scraping: Develop and maintain scripts and tools for extracting data from websites
Requirements
Must Have
- Professional Experience: 3-7 years of back-end experience in complex projects with familiarity in front-end development
- SQL and NoSQL Expertise: 3+ years of proficiency in SQL databases
- Communication Skills: Fluent in written and oral English
Nice-to-Haves
- Start-up Experience: Previous experience working in a start-up environment.
- Web Stack Knowledge: Familiarity with the entire web stack, including protocols and web server optimization techniques.
- Serverless Architectures: Experience building serverless backends.
