We’re looking for a passionate and experienced individual to join our team as an Open Source Community Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for fostering and growing our open-source software developer community. You will work closely with internal teams, contributors, and users to ensure the success and sustainability of our open-source projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for open-source software development projects, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to building inclusive and collaborative communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for the open-source developer community, fostering engagement, collaboration, and a sense of belonging among contributors and users.
  • Community Building: Develop and implement strategies to grow and nurture our open-source community. Collaborate with Nethermind’s partners to support open-source contributors.
  • Content Creation: Collaborate with Nethermind’s Marketing Team and Technical Writers to plan and curate educational content relevant to the open-source community.
  • Event Planning: Collaborate with Nethermind’s Marketing & Event Team to facilitate community events, such as hackathons and meetups to promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking within the community.
  • Build the Nethermind brand amongst the open-source software development community.

Skills:

  1. Proven experience in open-source software development and community management, as well as passion for building inclusive and diverse communities.
  2. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with technical and non-technical audiences.
  3. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), issue tracking systems (e.g., GitHub Issues), and collaboration tools commonly used in open-source development.
  4. Familiarity with open-source licensing, copyright, and intellectual property issues.

Nice to have:

  • Degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Content creation experience, writing or curating educational content in various formats together with Marketing and/or subject matter experts.
  • Experience organizing and facilitating community events.
  • Crypto Native or a background in crypto, whether personal or professional.

KPIs:

  • Number of successful (ie. approved by project owners) contributions to Nethermind’s OS repos
  • Number of external contributors raising PRs to Nethermind’s OS repos.

  • Moderating online forums and social media groups, and responding to community members questions and concerns
  • Organizing and hosting events and meetups to bring community members together and foster collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Working closely with the development team to ensure that the community's needs and feedback are being taken into account in the design and development of the technology
  • Providing regular updates and information to the community about the progress and status of the technology
  • Dentifying and addressing any issues or conflicts within the community, and working to resolve them in a positive and constructive manner.
