DL News is looking for a talented journalist to join our growing fully-remote newsroom.
As a DeFi Correspondent, you will identify key trends and events within the ever broadening scope of decentralised finance and break down and distil them for a wide audience who may not be familiar with DeFi jargon.
This role is strictly for journalism and reporting. Applications from “content creators” or technical analysts without proven journalistic experience will not be considered.
What you’ll be doing:
- Pitch and execute story ideas relating to DeFi — this could be anything from consequential DAO votes, tokenisation, onchain trends, ways DeFi users are making money, and more.
- Develop a network of industry sources who can inform your reporting and keep you up to date with the topics and trends that matter to DeFi natives.
- Break down DeFi jargon and translate it into language the average informed reader can understand. Don’t just say what is happening — ask why, too.
- Become proficient at using our sister company’s tool, DefiLlama, to spot trends and support your reporting.
- Advance your expertise in journalism fundamentals: beat reporting, news judgment, story development, media ethics and source verification
Your experience:
- Hands-on experience using DeFi, familiarity with the “degen” culture, and demonstrable understanding of how popular DeFi protocols work
- Examples of writing about DeFi clearly and concisely. This can take the form of reporting or other long-form media. Writing about other areas in crypto is also welcome, as long as you can demonstrate solid knowledge of DeFi.
- Proven ability to get scoops, exclusives, or big interviews.
- An ability to demonstrate that you are well-connected and proactive in the DeFi community.
- Willingness to develop and adhere to rigorous journalistic standards.
- Ability to work remotely. Although the majority of our fully-remote newsroom works European hours, all time zones will be considered.
- Editing experience is a plus but not a requirement.
