Mission statement

What we are seeking… A specialist Trader will be responsible for executing and optimizing trading strategies for crypto assets using electronic communication networks (ECNs). This role requires deep expertise in cryptocurrency markets, proficiency in electronic trading systems, and the ability to analyze market dynamics to maximize trading efficiency and profitability. The appointed Trader will work closely with cross-functional teams, including compliance, technology, and operations, to ensure seamless trade execution and risk management.

Job description

• Trade Execution and Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement algorithmic trading strategies to enhance liquidity provision and profitability in volatile crypto markets.

  • Monitor real-time market data, including pricing, demand, and liquidity trends, to inform trading decisions.

  • Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, C++) for developing or customizing trading algorithms is a plus.

• ECN Platform Management:

  • Utilize ECN systems to match buy and sell orders efficiently, eliminating the need for intermediaries and reducing trading costs.

  • Configure and optimize trading algorithms to adapt to changing market conditions and ECN-specific requirements.

  • Liaise with technology teams to enhance ECN platform functionality and integrate new tools or data feeds.

  • Troubleshoot issues related to trading, funding, and configuration on ECN platforms in collaboration with technology teams.

• Market Analysis and Risk Management:

  • Continuously monitor and analyze cryptocurrency market dynamics, including price movements, trading volumes, and regulatory developments.

  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with crypto asset trading, including market, operational, and compliance risks.

  • Provide actionable insights and forecasts on crypto asset pricing and demand to support strategic decision-making.

• Operational Support and Settlement:

  • Oversee balances and settlements for crypto assets, ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with operations teams to streamline workflows and resolve discrepancies in trade execution.

• Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

  • Ensure all trading activities comply with relevant regulations and internal policies, particularly those related to crypto assets.

  • Stay updated on regulatory changes in the cryptocurrency sector and adapt trading strategies accordingly.

• Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work with global trading teams to implement strategies that align with the firm’s overall objectives.

  • Prepare detailed reports on trading performance, market trends, and ECN system efficiency for senior management.

Background and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MS in Finance) or certifications (e.g., CFA, Certified Cryptoasset AFC Specialist - CCAS) are a plus.

• 5+ years of experience in cryptocurrency trading, electronic trading, or a related role within financial markets.

• Proven track record of trading crypto assets on ECN platforms or similar electronic trading systems.

• Experience in banking, financial investigation, or compliance within the crypto sector is highly desirable.

• Deep understanding of cryptocurrency markets, blockchain technology, and ECN functionality.

• Proficiency in trading platforms and algorithmic trading tools.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex market data and develop predictive models.

• Expertise in risk management and compliance within the crypto asset space.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot trading and system issues under pressure.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional and global teams.

• Experience with API integrations for ECN platforms and market data feeds.

• Experience with high-frequency trading (HFT) or market-making in crypto assets is a major plus.

• Knowledge of decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols and their impact on trading strategies would also be very welcome.
