DFINITY is looking for a full-time researcher specialized in Distributed Systems. At the core of the Internet Computer lies the protocol responsible for Byzantine fault-tolerant state machine replication and its implementation. Your main tasks include the design, development and analysis of dependable and scalable algorithms, protocols and distributed system architectures with provable guarantees (failure-resilience, optimality, security, incentive compatibility, and beyond) to increase the scope, efficiency and security of the Internet Computer. Responsibilities:
- Work closely with a distributed team of engineers and researchers to develop secure, reliable and scalable solutions, from problem identification and solution conception to production
- Create designs, specifications and documentation of the next iterations of the Internet Computer Protocol
- Provide deep technical insights and communicate them clearly
- Keep up to date with trends and new developments in the field
- Write high-quality research papers targeted at leading conferences and journals
- Represent the foundation at academic and industry conferences and share technical information internally as well as with the public
Requirements:
- PhD in Computer Science or related field
- Experience in the design, analysis and implementation of distributed protocols
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to collaborate effectively both with other research and engineering teams
- Understanding of cryptographic protocols and experience using cryptographic primitives
- Strong record of peer-reviewed publications in top venues or other evidence of excellence
- Experience as a professor, postdoctoral researcher or industry researcher is a plus
- Experience in blockchain technology, cryptocurrency or formal methods is a plus
- Experience with Rust programming is a plus
