  • Develop and own best practices for managing production infrastructure (e.g., provisioning, application scaling, configuration management, capacity planning, observability, etc.)
  • Develop and own best practices for developer processes (e.g., CI/CD, dev and staging environments, etc.)
  • Provide input into long-term infrastructure and platform requirements as well as operational guidelines with a focus on developer productivity and reliability
  • Continuously raise our standard of engineering excellence by implementing best practices (e.g., for coding, testing, and deployment)
  • Attract and hire a world-class team with a focus on senior engineers

What We're Looking For:

  • 6+ years of experience as a Infrastructure/Backend Engineer (e.g. Backend SWE, Site Reliability Engineer, Production Engineer, Platform Engineer, Software Engineer)
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Manager of a team of 4+ engineers
  • Experience designing and operating large-scale, multi-region production systems
  • Experience operating production Kubernetes clusters
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, Puppet, etc)
  • Experience working with AWS or other cloud infrastructures
  • Experience building deployment pipelines leveraging common CI/CD tools (e.g. Argo, Flux, Gitops)
  • Demonstrated success as an individual contributor prior to entering management
  • The cross-functional nature of this role requires strong communication and collaborations kills
  • (Preferred) Experience with running production services on bare-metal and vendor management
  • (Preferred) Experience managing teams in the lower infra stack (e.g. server, operating systems, datacenter management, compute stack (k8s), infrastructure as code, networking)
  • (Preferred) Excellent understanding of web applications and architecture
  • (Preferred) Early-stage startup experience
