Overview

Heretic has an immediate opening for an experienced and innovative Partner, Talent and Recruiting to drive talent acquisition and strategy for Heretic Ventures. The Partner, Talent and Recruiting will be responsible for shaping the culture and people strategy of Heretic Ventures, as well as leading hiring for the Heretic’s venture studio team and new portfolio companies that are graduating out of the studio.

The Partner, Talent and Recruiting  role is compensated with a mix of salary, carry in the fund’s investments, and equity stakes in all companies created by the Studio.

In this critical role, the Partner will lead search efforts and the candidate management process including execution of candidate sourcing, selection, development, interviews, assessment, and negotiations, in close partnership with Heretic’s Managing Partner and studio leads.  This is an opportunity to work with a small, world-class high-performing group of investment and entrepreneurship professionals to build companies from the ground up.  In addition, this role will shape the internal culture, organizational structure, and people strategies of Heretic Ventures and oversee the entire HR function of the venture studio.  The venture studio itself will be at maximum between 8-12 professionals.

The Partner, Talent and Recruiting will have an unusual breadth of responsibility - on the one hand, sitting in on investment decision meetings and helping shape the studio and portfolio strategy, and on the other hand, rolling up their sleeves to execute all recruiting activities.  This role is ideal for the individual who could take on a senior role at a large company, but chooses instead to have more breadth of responsibility, a seat at the table of company strategy, an entrepreneurial experience, a small group of colleagues who can make decisions quickly, and a high degree of agency and equity.

The role can be in-person, hybrid, or fully remote, at the discretion of the candidate.

Located in San Francisco’s Presidio, Heretic Ventures is a San Francisco-based venture studio ideating and launching new businesses in the creator economy, including those that capitalize on blockchain / crypto technology. Heretic is run by Managing Partner Mariam Naficy, who founded and built the pioneering internet companies Minted and Eve.com.  Heretic is backed by household names in Silicon Valley (investors and entrepreneurs), who act as the studio’s advisors both in selecting and advising companies.
