The Engineering Manager role is all about supporting the software development (engineering) squads to improve their development processes, ensure technical delivery and grow our talented engineers in their careers. The Engineering Managers will use their knowledge and experience in modern engineering culture, software development practices and agile methodology to build highly effective and autonomous squads. A key focus of the role is to work with the squads as well as the stakeholders and leadership around the squads, to improve the speed and quality of technical delivery and growing talent.

In this role we are looking for someone passionate about continuous improvement, technical and operational excellence, and information security.

Your mission

• You take ownership of technical delivery

  • You are responsible for the squad's product delivery in terms of the efficiency, quality, and effective implementation as well as service operations of the technical deliverables
  • You ensure the squad is working on their technical vision

• You take ownership of talent development of your squad

  • You are responsible for supporting the people in the squad, including the Tech Owner
  • You conduct the performance enablement talks and ensures personal growth with the engineers

• You take ownership of development processes

  • You support and coach squads to improve their development processes

• You are responsible for recruitment and squad staffing

  • You plan for long term competence need in the squad, aligned with budget

Your profile

• You have successfully finished a Bachelor study in computer science or any engineering equivalent
• You bring at least 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• You have experience as a manager of software engineering teams and bring strong leadership skills
• You have experience working with JavaScript, React and Node.js while working in an Agile and DevOps working set-up
• You bring extensive knowledge of software engineering from ground up: software engineering practices, modern design and architecture concepts
• You are a communicator by heart, both written and verbal with fluency in English
