As a founding protocol engineer, Solayer Labs will be awarding a range of 1.0% โ 4.0% of company ownership.
What is Solayer
Solayer is building the restaking network on Solana. Solayer is creating a shared validator network that extends the security of Solana and safeguards other decentralized networks. This reduces the required capital for securing emerging networks.
What do you do as a protocol engineer
- Designing and implementing customized consensus algorithms to meet specific requirements.
- Conducting thorough analyses of existing consensus algorithms, assessing their performance metrics such as throughput, finality, and security.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate and optimize consensus mechanisms within blockchain systems.
- Staying abreast of the latest developments and research in consensus algorithms and distributed computing.
What do you need
- Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Masterโs degree or PhD with a focus on distributed systems, cryptography, or blockchain technology a plus
- Proficiency in consensus algorithms, with a deep understanding of their underlying principles and applications, particularly within blockchain technology.
- Hands-on experience in designing and implementing consensus algorithms or related distributed systems.
- Solid grasp of distributed computing challenges and solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for critically evaluating complex systems.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of effectively explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Previous involvement in developing distributed systems.
What does an Solana developer do?
As a Solana developer, your responsibilities would include designing, implementing, and maintaining applications on the Solana blockchain platform using Rust programming language
This would involve using the Solana software development kit (SDK) to write smart contracts and build decentralized applications (dApps) that make use of the platform's features and capabilities
You would also be responsible for ensuring that your dApps are secure, efficient, and scalable, and for testing and debugging your code to ensure its correct behavior
Additionally, you may be involved in the ongoing development and improvement of the Solana platform itself, working with other members of the Solana community to drive innovation and advance the state of blockchain technology.
