Mythical Games is currently in search of a 3D Art Generalist to join a development team that is in the process of creating a Pudgy Penguins™ game. In this role, you will work directly with the Art Director to bring a variety of designs to life as game assets within the Unity Game Engine. To complete the final design, you will create textures from 2D concepts, finalize designs from other artists, and model character accessories and props.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with art directors to model, texture, and occasionally render 3D game assets; including characters, props, and environments.
- Assist with developing and implementing assets within the Unity Engine game environment.
- Partake in meetings (remotely) with the development team and engage in the ideation of future development plans.
- Continuously learn and grow as an artist.
Qualifications:
- Educational background in game art and design, or equivalent professional experience.
- An impressive portfolio representing both 2D and 3D artwork that displays proficiency with Autodesk Maya, Adobe Photoshop, Substance Painter, ZBrush, and/or the like.
- Strong UV and texture mapping skills.
- Knowledge of Unity Engine and production management tools.
- Ability to work efficiently and communicate effectively as part of a team.
- Comfortable with communication and collaboration tools like Slack.
- An exceptional eye for detail and the ability to raise the quality bar.
- Core artistic principles, including light and color, composition, structure, and perspective.
- Examples of stylistic art with hand-painted textures is preferred.
- Experience with source control (Perforce, Git, etc.) is preferred.
Requirements:
- A portfolio demonstrating relevant artistic skills is required.

The expected base salary range for this role is based on the location where the employee’s work will be performed and is aligned to one of our three compensation pay range tiers. Base pay is just one part of Mythical’s total compensation package, which is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their efforts and contributions. This role is also eligible to participate in Mythical’s Corporate Bonus and Equity Plan.
Pay Ranges by Tier:
Tier 1: $110,000 - $152,000
Tier 2: $99,000 - $136,000
Tier 3: $88,000 - $121,000
Locations by Tier:
Tier 1 Locations: San Francisco Bay Area - California
Tier 2 Locations: Remainder of California (outside of the SF Bay Area), Washington state, Massachusetts state, New York state
Tier 3 Locations: All other states outside of California, Washington, Massachusetts, and New York
*The role is open to candidates in the following states on a remote basis: California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Texas & Washington
The base salary for each successful applicant will be dependent on a variety of factors, including work location, education, qualifications, competencies, relevant work experience, business needs, and market demands.
