About the Team

The Risk function at OKCoin is responsible for the overall risk and fraud prevention culture at the company. We’re a team of risk-minded problem solvers who advise the business on the company’s regulatory obligations and enterprise risk. We’re also deeply committed to moving the needle on risk standards for the crypto industry, building products in a compliant way, and protecting the company from financial, regulatory and reputational risks. Our team consists of seasoned risk professionals who are based across our global offices.

About the Opportunity

This is a highly-impactful role at one of the fastest-growing global cryptocurrency exchanges headquartered in San Francisco, CA. The Sr. Manager, Risk Rules is responsible for designing, testing, implementing, and monitoring a suite of risk rules within Okcoin’s Risk Engine to mitigate risk and prevent fraud. The rules need to be fine tuned for an international crypto market that reduces financial loss and non-compliance while ensuring a positive experience with minimal friction to the customer.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Support the Head of Risk to create a robust set of risk rules for real-time and near real-time decisioning on customer events;
  • Drive the development of rules and models through data analysis to minimize fraud loss and promote regulatory compliance;
  • Identify key loss drivers for our products and highlight opportunities to strengthen controls and policies;
  • Partner with our Product and Customer Service teams to ensure that Risk Rules, and the resulting customer treatment, promote a positive customer experience;
  • Identify the key data required to source from multiple internal/external systems, reconcile errors and conflicts, breakdown the details and generate information to provide business findings;
  • Promote a data-driven culture within the department with value-added data analysis and timely management of information; and
  • Engage in storytelling via data analytics to connect the dots and visualize problems or pain points within the business.

What We Look For In You:

  • 5+ years of experience designing and monitoring risk based rules in Fintech, Payments, eCommerce or Financial Services industry;
  • Hands-on experience coding and implementing risk rules into a Risk Engine (Actimize, DataVisor, Sift, Verifin, etc.) that makes decisions on customer events in real-time.
  • Extensive skills in SQL, with understanding of database structure, model design, and segmentation techniques;
  • Experience with AML/OFAC compliance regulations and requirements as well as financial products and services;
  • Start-up mentality that is highly collaborative with an entrepreneurial, hands on approach to problem solving;
  • Strong analytical mindset and approach to problem solving;
  • Ability to learn new technology tools quickly; and
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 10% annually.

Nice to Haves:

  • Crypto/Blockchain investigation experience;
  • Proficiency in Python and the ability to apply it to data analysis projects;
  • Fluency in a second language (Mandarin, Spanish, Korean, etc.); and
  • Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Economics.
