About Paxos  Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it. We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world’s leading financial institutions, like PayPal, Venmo, Mastercard and Interactive Brokers.  About the team  Our Legal Team is a dynamic group of problem-solvers dedicated to navigating the complex intersection of finance, technology, and law. We tackle some of the most challenging issues at the heart of digital asset regulation and blockchain innovation. By ensuring compliance while pushing the boundaries of what's legally possible, we directly contribute to Paxos' mission of transforming the financial landscape. About the role As a Deputy General Counsel, you'll lead efforts to navigate and shape the evolving regulatory landscape of digital assets and blockchain technology. This role involves a blend of strategic foresight and hands-on problem-solving, ensuring that our products not only meet current regulations but also pioneer new standards for privacy and security in the digital age. Your work will have a direct impact on Paxos' growth and the broader acceptance of digital assets in global finance. What you’ll do

Develop and lead our regulatory strategy across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring that our products and services comply with complex and evolving regulations. Work closely with product teams to guide the development of new offerings from a legal and regulatory perspective, identifying potential issues before they arise. Engage with regulators and industry bodies to advocate for sensible digital asset regulation that supports innovation while protecting consumers. Lead our privacy initiatives, ensuring that our practices not only comply with regulations like GDPR and CCPA but also set industry standards for data protection. Collaborate with the broader legal team to provide comprehensive legal advice that aligns with our strategic goals, focusing on areas such as intellectual property, commercial agreements and corporate governance. Stay ahead of legal and regulatory developments in digital assets, privacy, and blockchain technology, translating complex legal concepts into actionable guidance for the team.

About you

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to at least one U.S. state bar. A minimum of 12 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house role, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, digital assets, and privacy law. Demonstrated experience navigating the regulatory landscape for financial services or technology products, particularly in relation to blockchain or digital assets. Strong understanding of global privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and emerging regulations. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal and regulatory issues to non-experts. Experience engaging with regulators and policy makers on issues related to financial technology or privacy. A proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving, with a drive to take on new challenges and adapt to rapidly changing environments.
