About Polygon Labs

Polygon Labs is a software development company building and developing a network of aggregated blockchains via the AggLayer, secured by Ethereum. As public infrastructure, the AggLayer will bring together user bases and liquidity for any connected chain, and leverage Ethereum as a settlement layer. Polygon Labs has also contributed to the core development of several widely-adopted scaling protocols and tools for launching blockchains, including Polygon PoS, Polygon zkEVM, and Polygon Miden, which is in development as well as Polygon CDK.

This role will require you to be on-call one week, every two months

Your Role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Polygon Labs, your role will cover development and operations; deploying, debugging, tuning and maintaining large-scale Web deployments, high-performance, low-latency distributed applications, and container-based applications and microservices.

You’ll be ready to apply the best practices for monitoring and observability, security and infrastructure automation, to improve and expand the multi-cloud platform used by deployments.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ensuring deployments have more than 99% availability at all times

  • Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing and production to ensure a seamless launch

  • Automate operational processes as needed in compliance with our security standards 

  • Establish DevOps Engineer team best practices

  • Manage code deployments, fixes, updates and related processes using CI/CD tools, and source control such as GIT

  • Offer technical support where needed, developing software for our back-end systems

  • Provide incident response and support for our production systems

  • Stay current with industry trends and source new ways for our business to improve


What You'll Need

  • Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures, Linux/Unix administration

  • Experience managing databases such as PostgreSQL, NoSQL, Redis, MongoDB, and using managed services like RDS

  • Knowledge of coding languages such as Javascript, Python, Go, Rust and Bash 

  • Experience with configuration management tools like Terraform and Ansible

  • Experience working with different Linux distributions: Ubuntu, Centos

  • Knowledge of other Linux fundamentals 

  • Experience working with containers, preferably Docker, and container orchestration tools like Swarm and Kubernetes 

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus and Datadog

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and Github Actions for automation and configuration

  • Knowledge of AWS cloud and its services like EC2, VPC, S3, SNS, Load balancers, Auto scaling, Route53, Code Pipeline, Code deploy, Cloud front and IAM 

  • Knowledge of GCP cloud and its services like GKE, GCE, load balancing and networking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain protocol and processes to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Experience in software development and infrastructure development 

  • Ability to mentor junior engineers

  • Experience working in blockchain or web3
