Finance Product Fellow
About https://www.sentient.xyz/
At Sentient, we’re building AI products, bringing together AI research leaders, and designing an incentive system for AI developers to make open-source AI win. Our platform is designed to democratize AI development, empowering communities to collaboratively create, monetize, and build on top of AI models, agents, and data in a truly open and accessible ecosystem, ensuring fair value distribution to AI builders.
Our flagship product, Sentient Chat, is an AI research copilot built for multi-angle intelligence, initially focused on on-chain analysis: crypto token research, market structure insights, risk framing, and decision support.
Sentient is backed by leading Silicon Valley venture capital firms including Founders’ Fund and founded by top AI academics and protocol founders.
The Role
We’re looking for a part-time Finance Product Fellow to help define and build the financial strategies that our AI uses to provide insights to Sentient Chat users.
You’ll translate trading theory and crypto market structure into clear product behaviors and AI guidelines, shape UX that feels native to crypto degens and pros alike, and iterate quickly using technical AI evaluations and user feedback.
You’re equal parts market researcher, trading strategy designer, and AI engineer. You know how real traders think, what statistics they trust, and what “good” looks like in an AI-assisted workflow.
Responsibilities
Draft AI decision trees & constraints (signal priority, risk guardrails, “do-not-infer” rules)
Maintain a living playbook for how AI should interpret different market data: funding/OI regimes, unlock calendars, liquidity pockets, whale flow, basis/futures dynamics
Design workflows & product components (portfolio viewer, OI/funding monitors, holders/flow dashboards, catalyst trackers, trading reports for hot tokens)
Write clear system guidelines for how the AI condenses, cites, and interprets market data
Create evaluation rubrics & task batteries to score AI outputs (accuracy, calibration, usefulness, abstentions)
Conduct user interviews, synthesize insights, and turn feedback into shippable changes
Instrument lightweight feedback (thumbs, rationale capture, “what should it have done?” prompts) and track weekly deltas
Collaborate with engineers on offline evals + online A/Bs; iterate based on data and user signals to improve AI system’s delivery of high-quality actionable financial insights
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a university program (undergrad or grad); able to work part-time during the term
Strong grasp of crypto market structure (perps/funding, OI, liquidity/slippage, unlocks/emissions, staking/LST/LRT)
Ability to write tight specs & guidelines (decision criteria, do/don’t lists, evaluation metrics)
Comfort with crypto-native tools & UX (what traders actually use and expect)
Experience using Dune, Nansen, DefiLlama, TradingView, Dexscreener, and similar
Bias to ship, measure, iterate; excellent written communication; curiosity and integrity
Values
Appreciate and pursue deep expertise
Embrace extreme ownership and bias for action
Want to take risks and act upon ambition with integrity and empathy
Pursue relentless innovation and experimentation
-
Invest in personal growth and team collaboration
Benefits
Competitive salary
Top-of-the-line engineers and technology
Opportunity to shape the direction of a pioneering open AI platform
