About the Team
Reporting directly to the Global Head of Marketing and Communications, the Head of Communications is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for web3 to help shape and relay Sui’s vision, innovation, and ecosystem development. Communications in web3 is radically different from other types of organizations as it’s not just about sharing progress, but community development, and the Sui Foundation Communications team reflects this across its strategies and initiatives.Â
Role Description
The Head of Communications will lead the development and execution of strategic communication initiatives across the Sui ecosystem. You will help craft Sui’s narrative and amplify its vision to create a foundation for a decentralized web where digital assets are accessible to everyone. You will devise strategic PR plans, create compelling stories for specific verticals and audiences, and work with ecosystem partners and cross-functional teams to uncover unique communication opportunities. Â
You are a skilled communications expert (with experience in tech, blockchain or crypto enterprises), who has a successful track record of executing a wide range of product launches, program announcements, partner announcements, and narrative-based communications leveraging diverse channels including trade press and social media. Â
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with Sui’s business goals and enhances brand recognition and reputation.
Work across the Sui Foundation, key stakeholders, and all parts of the community and ecosystem including the Partnerships team to mine stories, elevate storytelling, and architect a cohesive narrative that lands with target audiences.
Develop messaging and positioning to place Sui at the forefront of web3 and blockchain technology; provide thought-leadership inviting and welcoming all web3 audiences including developers, researchers, businesses, VCs, and other crypto/blockchain enthusiasts.
Support the Sui Foundation in announcing key initiatives, programs and partners with the media and trade press.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, industry influencers, and stakeholders. Â
Craft and deploy strategic narratives for key verticals (e.g. gaming, finance, AI, etc).
Provide a strategy and solution to scale communication initiatives globally and target markets.
Identify and manage executive engagement opportunities at key conferences and trade events including submission, planning, communicating awareness, and onsite execution.
Lead internal communications efforts to ensure alignment and engagement across the organization.Â
Oversee the creation and consistency of brand messaging across all platforms and communications. Â Work closely with the marketing and product teams to develop content positioning.
Develop and manage crisis communication plans, ensuring the company is prepared to respond effectively to any potential issues.
Collaborate with agency and community partners.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of of professional experience (at least 3 years in a tech company or start-up)
Ability to decipher highly technical terminology for a general audienceÂ
A great writer and editor, with experience in messaging and talking points
Ability to lead by influence building trust and inspiring confidence
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Passion for web3 and the blockchain industry
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in crypto and blockchain industry
Familiar with the Sui network and related concepts around decentralization, composability, programmable objects, smart contracts, and open source development.
