Location: Nashville or Remote

At Number Group, we're pioneering the next wave of DeFi and crypto applications, blending technology with design to create products that are not only innovative but also intuitive and visually compelling. We're on a mission to democratize finance with design that speaks to every user, making complex concepts accessible and engaging.

About the Role

We're seeking a Junior UX/UI Designer with a keen eye for design, a passion for creating seamless user experiences, and a particular interest in the DeFi/crypto space. This role is ideal for someone who believes that design can transform the abstract into the tangible, making digital finance accessible to all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting and working closely with the head of product at Number Group to design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices, interfaces, and products.
  • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions, making strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
  • Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas.
Requirements

  • Portfolio Review:  Candidates must present a strong portfolio showcasing their design thinking, problem-solving skills, successful UI/UX projects, and proficiency in art direction. Special consideration will be given to projects related to the DeFi/crypto industry, highlighting the candidate's ability to balance form, function, novelty, and legibility, ensuring products are engaging and functional.
  • Design Proficiency: Candidates should have expertise in design tools like Figma, used for creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and prototypes. This expertise should extend to conveying complex design ideas effectively and efficiently.
  • DeFi/Crypto User Insight: Knowledge of user behavior and needs within the DeFi/crypto space is crucial. Candidates should demonstrate experience in conducting user research, usability testing, and analyzing feedback to guide design decisions, ensuring intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Technical Collaboration: Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript is required to understand design feasibility and to collaborate effectively with front-end developers. Skills in designing for various devices and screen sizes, including mobile-first approaches, are essential.
  • Brand Consistency: Candidates must ensure that all visual and interactive elements consistently reflect the brand’s identity, values, and messages across the product ecosystem, including web platforms, mobile apps, and extensions.
Nice-to-Haves

  • Familiarity with AI visual tools like Midjourney, Runway, and DALLE for asset generation.
  • Experience in managing design systems and UI component libraries.
  • Basic understanding of Git for version control.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of 3D design tools and ethical considerations in DeFi application design.
What We Offer

  • A remote work environment with flexible hours.
  • The opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team shaping the future of DeFi.
  • A culture of learning and growth with a focus on professional and personal development.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
Ethical Considerations and User Trust: Understanding of the ethical considerations in designing DeFi applications, including transparency, user consent, and data protection, is crucial given the financial nature of these platforms.

How do I start a Web3 career?

If you're interested in starting a career in Web3, here are a few steps you can take:

  1. First, it's important to gain a solid understanding of the underlying technologies that make up the Web3 ecosystem, such as blockchain, cryptography, and decentralized networks. You can do this by reading books and articles, taking online courses, or attending workshops and conferences.
  2. Next, you'll want to build a portfolio of projects that showcase your skills and knowledge. This can include creating dApps (decentralized applications) using blockchain platforms such as Ethereum, contributing to open-source projects, or writing articles and tutorials on Web3-related topics.
  3. Networking is also an important part of any career, and the Web3 space is no exception. Attend meetups and conferences, join online communities, and make connections with other professionals in the field. This can help you learn from others, share your own expertise, and potentially find job opportunities.
  4. Finally, consider getting certified in Web3 technologies. There are several organizations that offer certification programs, which can help demonstrate your proficiency and set you apart from other candidates in the job market.
