The Engineers at Chainalysis are driven by working on new technical challenges every day. As relentless problem-solvers and big dreamers, we’re creating the building blocks for future blockchain technologies.
As a Senior Platform Engineer in the Data Availability team you are really good at building reliable and scalable backend microservices to make data available to our products, ultimately enabling law enforcement agencies, the world’s largest cryptocurrency businesses, and financial institutions to do things like take down dark web marketplaces, prosecute child predators, and solve the Twitter Hack (yeah, we do all that!). We measure success by how well we build components that are reusable and replaceable, reducing time to production, building tools that simplify data analysis and fostering collaborative relationships across the company.
In one year you’ll know you were successful if…
- You have helped architect and delivered our next generation high throughput data pipeline for handling TB of data
- Mentored Senior Developers in distributed systems design techniques and best practices coding standards
- We’ve modernized our stack and moved to a streaming architecture.
- Worked with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter
- You have worked with stakeholders in setting SLOs and helped the team build solutions to meet and monitor them.
A background like this helps:
- Very strong Java fundamentals and experience with Spring
- Proven track record of delivering maintainable and scalable systems
- Good understanding of the Ethereum and Bitcoin protocol
- Experience in scaling/sharding of databases
- You are comfortable building backend ETL pipelines and services in a Cloud environment
- Have a strong bias to ship.
- Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes and AWS
- Previously designed and implemented cloud-native microservices-based distributed systems.
- Experience building data pipelines and implementing event-driven architectures.

What does a Java developer in web3 do?
A Java developer in web3 would likely be focused on developing applications that use the Java programming language in the context of the web3 technology stack
Web3 is a collective term used to refer to the next generation of decentralized, blockchain-based technologies that are aimed at creating a more open and secure internet
In this context, a Java developer would be responsible for writing code that interacts with web3 technologies, such as decentralized applications (DApps) and smart contracts, to create new tools and services that run on the blockchain
This could involve working with cutting-edge technologies such as Ethereum, which is a popular blockchain platform that uses the Java programming language, as well as other web3 technologies and frameworks.
