In our mission to accelerate the global adoption of cryptocurrencies, we understand that crypto isn’t straightforward for most people yet. This is where our localization team plays a key role to make crypto accessible to people anywhere in any language. 

As our user base grows alongside our range of service offerings, the role of our localization team is increasingly important in not only making our platform more accessible, but making the entire crypto space more within reach of mainstream audiences across the world.

The Localization Team at Kraken is looking for a Localization Technical Program Manager (TPM) to manage Machine Translation (MT) implementation, localization process automations, localization testing and quality assurance workflows, as well as support the internationalization of our products and growing localization needs. 

You’ll work alongside our team of localization project managers as well as cross-functional technical, data and product-focused stakeholders (engineers, product managers, designers), whose mission is to consistently deliver the best experience to our international clients. As a TPM, you will own our localization automation and testing processes, and also drive continuous improvement initiatives of our localization workflows to drive localization impact on key business metrics.

The Opportunity

  • Ensure linguistic and functional quality for our global products and identify continuous improvement opportunities for country/market customizations. 

  • Execute MTPE strategies to train and customize MT engines.

  • Develop workflows in collaboration with our TMS and LSPs, maintain localization budget tracker and own operational effectiveness metrics reporting.

  • Improve Linguistic QA (LQA) process, drive localization testing with our vendors and internal teams for applications and features leading end to end testing, bug triaging, Jira ticket assignment, reporting functional and linguistic bugs, validating bug fixes, implementation and regression testing. 

  • Identify areas for LQA process improvements, define localization requirements for test automation and track status of test automation and manage the backlog of test automation implementation. 

  • Design and run efficient localization frameworks for multiple products, content types (UI, help center, website, legal, marketing and multimedia), and languages for on-time and high-quality delivery.

  • Develop and promote localization best practices across multiple disciplines, including UX Design, Engineering, QA, Product management and Release Management. 

  • Track and report localization impact on business metrics in key geos and growth initiatives.

  • Interact with Localization Project Managers to scope out and facilitate localization projects across content areas.

  • Define and track success metrics for localization ROI and efficiency.

Skills you should HODL

  • Hands-on experience implementing translation management system (TMS); MT engines (Phrase Translate, Next MT and other NMT/SMT engines); CAT tools (especially Phrase Suite, Crowdin and Smartling, among others); and other content management system (CMS) to run localization workflows; 

  • Strong understanding of mobile and web applications localization and internationalization development lifecycle. (Unicode and CLDR; CI/CD; agile software development; LQA processes; test automation; continuous improvement and best practices). 

  • Ability to implement connectors (Figma, Zendesk, Braze, Wordpress, etc.) and handle different file formats (e.g.: xml, json, html, xliff, indd etc.) 

  • Excellent analytical skills and usage of data-driven tools (e.g., Tableau, Snowflake, Mixpanel, Google Analytics).

  • High proficiency in one or more Project Management tools, preferably tools used in Agile development (JIRA, Airtable, Coda, etc.) as well as Confluence.

  • 2+ years of technical project/program management experience in Localization Operations, Localization Program Management, International Product Management, or equivalent roles managing complex software localization cycle from end to end.

  • Degree or equivalent training in Localization, Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or related technical field. 

  • Native-level proficiency in one or more of the following languages is a plus: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Russian, Chinese.

  • Flexibility to work effectively with different time zones.
