About this role

Syntropy is a Layer 1 blockchain that powers real-time data infrastructure on any chain. Its foundation is the Data Layer, a protocol that enables chain-agnostic data composability in real-time through utilizing a novel, modular smart contract architecture.

We are seeking an experienced Blockchain Architect to help lead the design and development of our Layer 1 protocol with a primary focus on achieving cross-chain interoperability. As a key member of our team, the ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of different chain architectures, advanced knowledge of decentralized systems, and expertise in creating a flexible smart contract library capable of interacting with diverse chains in a modular and efficient capacity.

We have an extremely knowledgeable and capable Engineering/Technology team covering all essential development areas, and this position will bring additional leadership expertise to look after the overall Blockchain vision, strategy, and their implementation.

You will join a company filled with like-minded people who understand the purpose and impact of our project, and you will help to fulfill that purpose. Find out more at https://www.syntropynet.com/

We're remote-first, so you can be based anywhere, although alignment with European time zones would be preferred.

Main responsibilities

Architectural Leadership:

  • Lead the design and development of Syntropy’s Layer 1 protocol emphasizing cross-chain interoperability for the Data Layer.
  • Define and implement a robust and scalable blockchain architecture that accommodates diverse chains and ensures seamless communication.

Business Acumen:

  • Apply a strategic mindset to differentiate integration solutions that make business sense, enhancing adoption and increasing use cases.
  • Evaluate the economic viability of interoperability features, particularly in the realm of seamless, low-latency data access.

Interoperability Expertise:

  • Conduct in-depth research on different blockchain architectures, identifying key interoperability challenges, and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Develop strategies and protocols to facilitate smooth data exchange and execution of smart contracts across various chains.

Smart Contract Library:

  • Design and oversee the implementation of a modular smart contract library tailored for Cosmos-based chains and capable of interacting with a wide range of potential chains.
  • Ensure the smart contract architecture is flexible, scalable, and adaptable to the evolving landscape of blockchain technologies within the Cosmos ecosystem.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, researchers, and product managers, to align architectural decisions with project goals.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Innovation and Research:

  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in blockchain technologies, smart contract development, and decentralized systems within the Cosmos ecosystem.
  • Drive innovation by proposing and implementing cutting-edge solutions that enhance the protocol's interoperability and performance, especially in Cosmos-based environments.
  • Together with the leadership team, the Head of Engineering and Senior R&D Manager, work on and lead the development of Syntropy’s Blockchain and Layer 1 vision. Architecture the solution and own its implementation plan/strategy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Blockchain Architect with a focus on interoperability, specifically within the Cosmos ecosystem.
  • Business acumen to evaluate and prioritize integration solutions that enhance business value, adoption, and use cases, with a specific focus on Cosmos-based interoperability.
  • Previous experience in a Head of Blockchain / Blockchain Lead / CTO role within a Web3 project is highly desired.
  • Expertise in developing a modular smart contract library with a Cosmos-based focus and a broader capability to interact with various chains.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Solidity, Rust, or others relevant to blockchain development.
  • Previous experience in building and successfully implementing a long-term blockchain strategy.
  • Proficiency with Cosmos SDK.

You get

  • A competitive salary and a significant long-term token package.
  • An annual budget for your professional & personal development.
  • 12 days per year dedicated for your professional development.
  • Remote-first environment (you’re still welcome to come to one of our offices, but you choose!)
