Fortress Trust, a wholly-owned subsidiary, provides embeddable financial infrastructure as founded by a team of former banking commissioners/regulators, career bankers, and VC-backed entrepreneurs with several exits. 

The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following legal fields: payments, financial regulations/regulatory compliance in the financial services industry, banking, corporate governance, and/or blockchain law. You will work on a wide variety of projects and make a meaningful contribution to building the company. 

This is a key role where we are flexible to take on someone who shows competency and is intermediate in their career or is already a senior/experienced veteran of the space. Regardless, there will be significant opportunities for impact and growth.

This role will require the candidate to be based in Las Vegas to sit with our General Counsel and other Senior Executives.

This is an opportunity to work alongside former regulators, entrepreneurs, and leading industry platforms. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the growth of a company building foundational infrastructure, including negotiating integrator contracts, fashioning new industry regulations, negotiating partnership/integrator agreements with leading industry platforms, working with investors, board members, and executives on strategy as well as representing Fortress at national conferences. You will report directly to the founder and General Counsel as well as coordinate with leading law firms and advisors. 

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a wide range of complex corporate agreements including, but not limited to: API Agreements, vendor contracts, AML/KYC policy, and employment agreements. 
• Conduct regulatory research and implement new policies (where necessary) to ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable laws.
• Review of policies and procedures across different businesses/departments.
• Overseeing legal matters and ensuring all applicable laws & regulations are followed.
• Collaborate with Business, Compliance, and other control departments to ensure that the applicable legal risks are managed appropriately.
• Support and assist in the development and implementation of a legal strategy that will facilitate the objectives of Fortress and its affiliates and subsidiaries.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience with a law firm or with in-house legal.
• Experience supporting a high-growth company.  
• Self-starter who can work well independently. 
• Related training in the financial services or fin-tech industry or a related legal practice area, with demonstrated specialization.
• Experience with general corporate governance matters.
• A high level of intellectual curiosity and drive to innovate.
• Located in or willing to relocate to Las Vegas
