CoinDesk is seeking a community manager to nurture and grow the community around its social reward token and supporting platforms as a brand ambassador.
With creating a delightful user experience as their mission, the community manager works closely with audience development, events, product and marketing to build whole spaces from the ground up for fans, including readers, social media followers and event attendees, to interact and develop long-term loyalty and engagement. They communicate between the brand and users with humor, professionalism and authenticity while seizing constantly evolving internet trends.
The CM plays a key role at Consensus 2022, CoinDeskâs first high-profile in-person event in the COVID era, to be based in Austin, Texas, June 9-12. The CM will nurture the Consensus Community virtually and in person, contributing and implementing creative ideas to incentivize attendance, participation and loyalty beyond the event. They will utilize communications channels like Twitter, Discord, Telegram and Reddit, plan and host in-person community events, and manage allocation of $DESK, CoinDeskâs own social token designed to fuel engagement and loyalty, and the rewards in DESKâs NFT store and beyond.
As a brand voice and key communications innovator for a news and events company, the CM should be very familiar with token-based community models, event management and editorial and journalistic standards. They should be able to leverage the opportunity of sourcing CoinDeskâs deep data and knowledge bases to inform and delight users.
The CM is familiar with metric goals, and enjoys the challenge of developing strategies to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) such as engagement rate, content reach, community growth (organic vs paid), reduction of bounce rate (hand in hand with CTA) and conversion.
Key responsibilities
- Spokesperson for community activities. Develop communication plans in line with events and audience teams including which channels to utilize for specific functions, before, during and after Consensus 2022 and other key events
- Engage with IRL and virtual event attendees, speaking directly to them as an accessible voice, be it on event platforms, Discord, Telegram or Twitter
- Help draft and update FAQ for questions related to $DESK, including common responses to user questions, in collaboration with Customer Experience manager for use on Zendesk, Discord and CoinDesk.com
- Work closely with customer experience manager to develop feedback loop on common user questions and issues flagged on Discord, Zendesk, social media, email, etc. and develop and execute a communication strategy to address those issues on Discord and social channels
- Create and deploy user generated content campaigns
- Establish the trust and safety standards for the community
- Host regular (1-4 times per month) community events
- Create strategies to meet key audience KPIs, and track and report the results
- Collect feedback; advise developers and coordinate on update and marketing strategies
- Execute communications for $DESK allocations and prizes
- Manage Discord integrations and bots including ticket system (Zendesk) and DESK allocations
- Moderate chats and lead conversations and user engagement activities in Discord and Telegram, including member admin and moderation, new channels, engagement tactics such as quests
- Play traffic cop for communications at major events
- Work closely with social, business and marketing on prioritizing messaging
- Communicate with commercial partners on logistics for $DESK rewards, including NFTs and real-life rewards
- Moderate website comments, a feature that will roll out in upcoming quarters, with the goal of fostering lively, civil and constructive discussions that score highly on the hierarchy of disagreement
- Play support roles for social media and events as needed, including social media spam and communications management and event announcements on various channels
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in community management OR demonstrated knowledge of DAO, NFT or tokenized community management
- Familiarity with server and community management specific to Discord
- Fluent in English with excellent writing command for all formal and informal communication scenarios, from professional emails to emoji messages
