About the company

Hi, we're Ondo Finance. Our mission is to provide institutional-grade, blockchain-enabled investment products and services. We have both a technology arm that develops decentralized finance technology, and an asset management arm that creates and manages tokenized funds. We were the first company to tokenize exposure to US Treasuries, and have since expanded into several other assets. We are also focused on incubating protocols that can support both tokenized real-world assets and traditional crypto.

Founded by folks from Goldman Sachs Digital Assets Team, we’re backed by some of the best investors in the world including Founders Fund, Coinbase Ventures, Pantera Capital, Tiger Global, and more. We are currently the leaders in the space in terms of AUM and are well capitalized to continue to grow the firm. We're fully remote, with team members across the U.S.

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned, business-oriented attorney to join our leadership team as Deputy General Counsel (DGC). The DGC will play a central role in both shaping and executing Ondo’s legal strategy across all major legal domains, including product, regulatory, corporate and commercial. This is a unique opportunity for a highly experienced legal leader to help scale one of the most innovative companies at the intersection of traditional finance and blockchain technology.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the DGC will serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team, oversee and coordinate legal inputs across departments, and manage high-impact legal initiatives that are critical to the company’s growth and risk management. The DGC will also serve as a mentor and leader to a growing legal team, helping to build the foundation for a world-class legal function.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the General Counsel to define, refine, and implement the company’s overall legal strategy
  • Provide senior-level oversight and guidance across legal domains, including product development, regulatory compliance, commercial contracting, corporate governance, employment, tax, and disputes
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to support the launch of new tokenized assets and RWA protocols and infrastructure in compliance with applicable laws and evolving regulatory guidance
  • Serve as lead counsel on cross-functional initiatives that require complex, multi-domain legal analysis
  • Lead regulatory risk assessments and develop practical strategies to mitigate legal exposure in dynamic global environments
  • Manage and advise on complex commercial transactions, including key vendor, customer, and partner agreements
  • Support corporate legal activities including M&A, financings, fund formation, entity management, and executive compensation
  • Coordinate internal legal workflows and external counsel relationships to ensure high-quality, efficient legal service delivery
  • Mentor and support Assistant General Counsels and other members of the legal team
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of legal operations, compliance training, and internal policies

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited U.S. law school
  • 10–15+ years of legal experience, ideally including time at an elite law firm and in-house at a high-growth fintech or blockchain company
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing and executing legal strategies in complex, regulated environments
  • Significant experience with blockchain, financial services, asset management, and/or tokenization strongly preferred
  • Significant experience advising SEC-regulated companies such as registered investment advisers
  • Expertise across multiple legal domains, with a particular emphasis on financial regulation (33 Act, 34 Act, 40 Act and Investment Advisers Act), anti-money laundering laws, product counseling and strategic transactions
  • Superior judgment, business acumen, and ability to balance legal risk with operational and strategic objectives
  • Proven ability to manage, mentor, and grow legal teams
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple fast-moving workstreams

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation including but not limited to salary, future token rights, and/or equity (according to your preferences) — We are well-funded and believe that great talent deserves great compensation
  • Full benefits (medical, vision, and dental) and flexible vacation policy (PTO)
  • Remote-first team across many countries — You will be an early team member helping shape our vision, culture, and design practices
  • A+ colleagues — Our team includes alumni from: Goldman Sachs, Blackrock, Two Sigma, Bridgewater, SpaceX, AWS, Meta, Google, McKinsey, Circle, Uniswap
  • Best-in-class investors — We are proud to be backed by leading crypto experts and VCs, including Pantera Capital, Founders Fund and Coinbase Ventures
