About the team:
The Data community at Luno, comprising Data Engineers, Scientists, and Analysts, uncovers valuable insights from the vast amounts of data we gather from our customers and platform. These insights are crucial for guiding our product development and business strategy.
As a Data Analyst joining Luno, you would be part of the Business Insights Team. Our focus is to provide the business with trusted, timely and accurate data for reporting and business insights. Our current technology stack includes Databricks and Looker.
The role in a nutshell:
As we accelerate on our mission to put crypto in everyone’s hands, your role is to extrapolate insights from the data that we collect on our customers and their experience with our products and services. This in turn, allows us to drive better decisions and inform our business strategy. Your role will involve designing, building, and maintaining our BI solutions, ensuring data accuracy, facilitating self-service and delivering compelling stories through dashboarding.
Your mission will be:
- Work closely with the relevant business stakeholders to understand their data needs
- Determine the data needed to address the business needs while ensuring it is of the highest quality, reliable and trusted
- Interpret trends, patterns in data and provide the business with actionable insights
- Collaborate with analytical data engineers to design and build any pipelines/data models needed to support analytical and reporting needs
- Implement best practices across Luno’s’ data landscape relating to data analysis, business intelligence and data governance principles.
- Work with the team to ensure that our BI platform is designed to help us scale
- Design metrics to help access how the business in performing day to day
- Build visually compelling dashboards that communicate insights to stakeholder (often non technical) to allow data informed decision making

The ideal Lunaut will have:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in the natural sciences or technical fields such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or Economics
- A minimum of 2 years experience in the data space
- Experience working with business intelligence platform such as Looker, Tableau, Cognos or Qlik
- Refined exploratory data analysis skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of optimising report and query performance
- SQL, Python, Pyspark skills
- A passion for storytelling and data visualisation
- Ability to work independently, as well as within and across multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to successfully complete projects with large and/or incomplete data sets
- Enthusiasm to work in the crypto industry
- Adaptable and capable of working in fast-paced environments
- Great analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
