Role Overview
We are looking for a Community Spaces Lead to grow and elevate the Community Spaces experience inside Fedi. Community Spaces are free to create and give every group the power to shape their own place on Fedi, on their own terms. Your mission is to scale the Community Spaces globally by driving creation, activation, and sustained engagement.
You will own this vertical end to end. That includes identifying audiences and shaping strategies to onboard them to Fedi, improving in-app visibility, and shaping programs that motivate people to create and grow their communities. You will collaborate with Product and Engineering on features, discovery, and integrations. You will partner with Marketing, and the Community team to run campaigns, education, and referral initiatives that bring more communities into Fedi and help them thrive.
This role requires a platform-minded builder: someone who knows how to grow user-generated ecosystems, make tools appealing to non-technical audiences, and run data-driven growth programs. Youāre comfortable with partner outreach, shaping product requirements, experimentation, and reporting clearly against targets.
You should have at least 6 years of experience building and scaling community or creator platforms, marketplace programs, or product-led growth initiatives. Experience with tools like Discord, Slack, Telegram, or Facebook Groups is valuable. Bitcoin knowledge is a plusānot a requirementābut alignment with Fediās mission is essential.
Responsibilities
Own Community Growth Targets
- Set and deliver quarterly OKRs, plans, and reports for Community Spaces growth and engagement.
- Build and manage a pipeline of high-value communities aligned with priority verticals such as Federations, SateNet, and Human Rights Defenders.
- Focus on activation and depth ā ensuring existing communities become active, circular, and self-sustaining.
Cross-Functional Execution
- Work with Product and Engineering to improve creation flows, discovery, and retention features.
- Coordinate with Federations, Mini-Apps, and On & Off-Ramps teams to highlight relevant tools and enable real use within communities.
Visibility, Education, and Campaigns
- Partner with Marketing, and the Community team to design programs that increase awareness and usage.
- Launch referral, spotlight, and certification programs that reward high-quality and bring new communities.
Onboarding and Quality
- Create playbooks and templates for rapid community setup across different verticals and regions.
- Work with key influencers and communities globally to onboard and promote Community Spaces.
Product Feedback and Ecosystem Fit
- Collect and synthesize feedback from leaders and end users to guide the roadmap for Community Spaces.
- Advocate for improvements to the in-app Communities section, including discovery, personalization, and Mini-App integrations.
Regional and Local Strategy
- Partner with regional teams to identify local needs and activate region-specific use cases.
- Curate and promote local Mini-Apps, chats, and tools that add real value to users.
- Support visibility for public communities that serve broader audiences.
Reporting and Insight Generation
- Define and track KPIs such as net new communities, activation rate, DAU/MAU, retention, content activity, members, and NPS.
- Share clear insights and experiments that improve funnel conversion and long-term engagement.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in community growth, platform partnerships, or marketplace programs.
- 3ā4 years working with or within community or creator ecosystems (e.g. Discord, Facebook Groups, Slack, Telegram).
- Proven DRI for growth targets and OKRs with cross-team execution.
- Experience launching and scaling programs that attract, activate, and retain users.
- Comfortable working with product specs, user research, and iterative experimentation.
- Strong communicator who can collaborate across regions, functions, and cultures.
- Ability to travel internationally and work closely with on-the-ground teams.
- Familiarity with Bitcoin, privacy-first tech, or digital community tools is a plus.
- Deep alignment with Fediās mission to empower communities to organize and transact on their own terms.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and stock options reflective of experience and impact.
- Unlimited Paid Time Off ā we trust you to balance rest and productivity.
- Global travel opportunities to support launches and community growth.
- Mentorship and growth within a world-class freedom-tech team.
