OtterSec is seeking an experienced **Senior Accountant** to support and manage core accounting operations across multiple entities. This role will be responsible for day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reconciliations, and compliance with applicable accounting standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
## Responsibilities
### Core Accounting & Multi-Entity Finance
Own the general ledger and day-to-day accounting for multiple legal entities
Recording invoices for customer services and reconciling customer accounts against billable time/expenses.
Manage month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations across entities
Manage inter-company transactions, allocations, and reconciliations
Handle invoicing, collections, and accounts payable
### Crypto & Web3 Accounting
Track and reconcile crypto payments from clients (ETH, BTC, stablecoins)
Account for crypto treasury holdings and on-chain transactions by entity
Reconcile wallets using blockchain explorers and crypto accounting tools
Maintain practical crypto accounting policies suitable for a startup and multi-entity structure
### Vendor & Customer Onboarding
Own vendor and customer onboarding across multiple entities
Set up and maintain vendor and customer profiles in accounting systems
Collect and manage onboarding documentation (contracts, payment terms, W-9/W-8, wallet addresses)
Ensure correct entity assignment for billing, payments, and revenue recognition
Maintain accurate records for fiat and crypto payment methods
### Compliance & Controls (Startup-Appropriate)
Maintain basic internal controls around payments, invoicing, and wallet access
Support external accountants, tax advisors, and entity-level compliance requirements
Assist with tax filings
Ensure clean, well-documented records for each legal entity
### Process Improvement & Scaling
Build and document simple, scalable accounting and onboarding processes for a multi-entity setup
Improve billing, inter-company, and crypto-tracking workflows
Help select and implement tools as the company grows (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, crypto tracking tools)
Identify gaps and recommend when additional structure or resources are needed
## Requirements
### Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of GAAP or IFRS.
Experience preparing financial statements and supporting audits.
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
### Preferred
CPA, CA, or equivalent professional certification.
Experience working with cryptocurrencies, digital assets, or blockchain-based businesses.
Familiarity with crypto wallets, exchanges, and on-chain transaction tracking.
Experience in tech startups, SaaS, or Web3 companies.
