Senior Web3 + Gaming Engineer
San Francisco or Bay Area | Equity Included
Shields Group Search is partnering with an innovative gaming and entertainment studio building deeply interactive, blockchain-connected worlds. The team blends AI systems, real-time rendering, and on-chain mechanics to create immersive experiences where players, creators, and communities own and shape the universe together.
We are seeking a Senior Web3 + Gaming Engineer who brings maturity, depth, and high ownership to both technical and product problem spaces. This is a hands-on builder role ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of smart contracts, backend systems, and game technology.
Role Overview
You will operate as a senior hybrid engineer who can architect, implement, and maintain blockchain systems that connect directly to live game environments. You will bridge on-chain contracts with backend services and contribute directly to feature direction, design, and long-term technical strategy.
This role is ideal for someone who can think beyond code, collaborate across disciplines, and help drive product development in a small, focused team.
What You Will Do
⢠Architect, deploy, and maintain Solidity smart contracts with secure and upgradeable patterns
⢠Manage pipelines from testnet to mainnet, including audits, versioning, and deployment hygiene
⢠Integrate on-chain systems with backend services using TypeScript and NestJS
⢠Build and refine features such as
⢠Digital asset and NFT provenance
⢠Reputation and scoring systems
⢠In-game currencies and marketplace logic
⢠Develop internal tools and indexers to track blockchain events and support game logic
⢠Coordinate with game engineering teams to bring blockchain mechanics into interactive worlds
⢠Act as a senior technical voice in feature design, architecture, and product direction
What You Bring
⢠Deep experience with Solidity, EVM fundamentals, and production smart contract deployments
⢠Strong backend engineering skills with TypeScript and frameworks such as NestJS
⢠Experience integrating blockchain systems with game or real-time environments
⢠Strong understanding of ERC-721 and ERC-1155 standards, indexing, and access control patterns
⢠Ability to operate as a hybrid builder who works across smart contracts, backend systems, and product decisions
⢠A track record of ownership on complex features or systems
⢠Experience in gaming, digital economies, or highly interactive worlds is strongly preferred
Bonus Experience
⢠Experience with The Graph or custom indexers
⢠Familiarity with contract auditing fundamentals
⢠Background in multiplayer or competitive gaming systems
⢠Experience in a startup or small-team environment
⢠Exposure to game engines or real-time rendering tools
Why This Team
You will join a team of senior engineers, artists, and storytellers with experience shipping products across AI, blockchain, gaming, and entertainment. The studio is building original IP and Web3-native games with real ownership, deep narrative design, and community-driven worlds. This is a chance to contribute at a foundational level and shape a next-generation gaming platform.
