The Ethereum Foundation (EF) is a global non-profit organization dedicated to helping Ethereum become an open, decentralized infrastructure for the world. We allocate resources to critical projects when needed and step back when others can take the lead.

Since 2014, EF has hosted Devcon, an annual 4-day conference which has become the oldest and most prominent event in the Ethereum community (and arguably the entire blockchain space).

Devcon is the gathering for the global Ethereum community to build and use decentralized systems. It's a conference for builders of all kinds, with content ranging from the deeply technical to the profoundly human. Each edition moves to a new region and brings together designers, researchers, students, and creators from around the world, many of whom are intrigued by cutting-edge technology, decentralization, privacy, security, free and open-source software, and the potential for Ethereum to change the world for the better. For a look at past Devcon editions and their speakers, see here: http://archive.devcon.org/

Devcon 8 will take place from November 3-6, 2026, in India, a region with deep technical talent, fast-growing developer communities, and increasing crypto adoption. For more information you can review our website https://devcon.org/en/

Comms Wizard

"Communications for Devcon is not just about promotion, it is about clearly explaining what Ethereum is today, where it is going, and how people can participate, specifically in India.”

We are looking for a Communications Wizard to plan and execute communications for Devcon 8.

The role includes responsibility for communications strategy and execution across narrative, campaigns, social media, video, press, creators, paid distribution, and performance tracking.

The role requires strong stewardship over a large and visible communications surface area. You will be expected to proactively drive output, maintain organizational clarity, and ensure communications scale in both quality and quantity.

The role requires consistent execution, operational discipline, and close coordination with all Devcon workstreams.

What You’ll Do

Narrative & Strategy

  • Ensure continuity and clarity about the Devcon 8 narratives.

  • Revisit and refine narratives as inputs evolve, without losing coherence or focus.

  • Translate Ethereum’s evolution from infrastructure to real-world applications into accessible, repeatable messaging.

  • Ensure internal alignment across teams so communications are proactive.

Campaigns & Content Execution

  • Design and execute narrative-driven campaigns across X, Instagram and other relevant platforms for India.

  • Maintain strong execution and output, ensuring consistent publishing cadence.

  • Balance global Ethereum storytelling with strong regional relevance, including India-specific builders, use cases, and voices.

  • Coordinate event announcements, milestones, programming highlights, and community initiatives into a coherent communications plan.

Paid Marketing & Performance

  • Own paid distribution strategy.

  • Define and manage a clear funnel from awareness to ticket conversion.

  • Run regular performance reviews and optimize spend based on data.

  • Ensure paid efforts scale efficiently and support core narrative goals.

Video & Storytelling

  • Involve video as a core storytelling channel.

  • Together with our creative director, create video briefs (narrative pieces, explainers, recaps, social cuts) and coordinate internal and external videographers.

  • Oversee reviews, approvals, and timely publication.

Press & Public Relations

  • Define press strategy, manage press passes, media partnerships, press materials, and workflows.

  • Coordinate with local and global PR support.

  • Support on-site press logistics.

Comms Infrastructure & Cross-Team Coordination

  • Act as the central coordination point for communications across all Devcon workstreams.

  • Proactively gather inputs, identify gaps, and translate internal progress into external messaging.

  • Establish clear processes, timelines, and expectations for content contributions from other teams.

  • Build and maintain a reliable communications operating system, including:

    • Editorial calendars and publishing cadences

    • Clear intake and review processes

    • Regular syncs with relevant teams

  • Advocate for and help onboard additional communications support as needed.

What Success Looks Like

  • A clear and consistent narrative for Devcon 8 is established and reinforced across all channels.

  • Consistent communications throughout the year, scaling in volume as the event approaches.

  • Campaigns ship on time with minimal last-minute coordination.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience in communication, marketing or editorial roles with end-to-end ownership of strategy and execution

  • Strong narrative judgement and the ability to translate complex, evolving topics into clear, accessible messaging

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute multi-channel campaigns (social, content, video, press)

  • Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and workstreams.

  • Data-literate, with comfort tracking performance and iterating based on results.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Experience with global or large-scale events is a strong plus.

  • Familiarity with Ethereum, crypto, or open-source ecosystems is highly desirable.

  • Must be able to travel to India in Q4

  • Native English speaker

Logistics & Availability

  • This role is fully remote, with in-person participation required during Devcon.

  • We use a range of project management and communication tools, including Notion, Telegram, Discord, Mattermost, Google Docs, etc. You will be expected to gain familiarity with them (though prior experience is not necessary)

  • Time commitment is expected to start part-time (˜20 hrs/week) in April 2026 and ramp to full-time around June as Devcon approaches.

  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends is required, particularly leading up to and during the event.

  • This is a contract role with hours billed monthly, which vary by month.

  • Availability to respond across global time zones is expected.

  • Must hold a valid passport and be able to travel, including to Mumbai, India.

  • Able to travel to India in Q4 2026 and support Devcon on-site as needed.

  • Comfortable working with a globally distributed, remote team across multiple time zones.
