BUILD THE NEXT GENERATION OF THE INTERNET
At Impossible Cloud, our mission is to make cloud solutions of the 'new' internet (web 3.0) accessible to businesses, with all its benefits. As a decentralized cloud provider, we are committed to establishing a technically forward-looking product as a counterpart to the traditional centralized solutions of large corporations. From our location in Hamburg, we develop the product with an international and passionate team. Our drive is to revolutionize an existing market while simultaneously creating a work environment where everyone can develop and make a significant contribution to achieving our common goal.

Your Impact:
Impossible Cloud is at the forefront of cloud innovation, and we’re looking for a motivated Platform Engineer Intern to focus on observability. This role will support the development and maintenance of our observability stack, ensuring its reliability, availability, and scalability. As a Platform Engineer Intern, you will work closely with various teams to implement effective monitoring solutions and optimize performance.

What you will do

    • Maintain and Expand the Observability Stack: Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of our observability stack leveraging Grafana.
    • Implement Monitoring Solutions: Develop and implement monitoring solutions to meet both engineering and business needs, enhancing our ability to detect and diagnose issues proactively.
    • Optimize Performance and Reduce Costs: Continuously improve the performance and efficiency of the observability tools to handle large-scale, distributed environments at a low cost.
    • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with engineering and operations teams to understand their requirements and provide effective observability solutions.
    • Documentation and Training: Create and maintain documentation for observability tools and processes, and assist in training team members to effectively use these tools.
    • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Investigate and resolve issues related to observability, ensuring minimal disruption to the business and maintaining system integrity.

What you bring to the table

    • Kubernetes:  Hands-on experience deploying and managing components in a Kubernetes environment. Also experience with tools like Helm, AgoCD and Git will greatly benefit you.
    • First experience with Grafana Stack: First experience with Grafana and its components, i.e. Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and/or Alloy is a plus.
    • Technical Skills: Good understanding of monitoring and observability principles in highly distributed systems (on-prem).
    • Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and convey technical information clearly.
    • Proactive Attitude: A proactive and self-motivated approach to learning and implementing new technologies and methodologies.
1. Submit your application (at least a complete resume) via the application form.
2. We will review your application promptly and provide feedback within a few days. If your application closely matches our requirements, we will invite you to an initial meeting via Google Meet.
3. As the next potential step, we will initiate further discussions via video and in person on-site with the founders.
4. After a successful interview process, you can expect an offer and feedback conversation, followed by a written offer document.

How do I start a Web3 career?

If you're interested in starting a career in Web3, here are a few steps you can take:

  1. First, it's important to gain a solid understanding of the underlying technologies that make up the Web3 ecosystem, such as blockchain, cryptography, and decentralized networks. You can do this by reading books and articles, taking online courses, or attending workshops and conferences.
  2. Next, you'll want to build a portfolio of projects that showcase your skills and knowledge. This can include creating dApps (decentralized applications) using blockchain platforms such as Ethereum, contributing to open-source projects, or writing articles and tutorials on Web3-related topics.
  3. Networking is also an important part of any career, and the Web3 space is no exception. Attend meetups and conferences, join online communities, and make connections with other professionals in the field. This can help you learn from others, share your own expertise, and potentially find job opportunities.
  4. Finally, consider getting certified in Web3 technologies. There are several organizations that offer certification programs, which can help demonstrate your proficiency and set you apart from other candidates in the job market.
