About the role
The Lead UX/UI Designer will be responsible for driving technical product design development through a Human Centered Design (HCD) approach in the form of user experience (UX), customer experience (CX), user interface (UI), usability, user research and analytics as well as managing the key designers as it relates to the project. You will focus your designs to meet and ease user needs related to UI, UX, usability and visual language as it relates to the user journey for blockchain-based digital applications.
Additionally you will facilitate user needs through research methods such as observations, interviews, surveys and usability testing, and translate these findings into design solutions and refinements. Working closely with engineers and product owners to provide value through designing the interactions, interface, and functionality of our products will be a core job pillar.
The ideal candidate applies creative solutions to Human Centered Design problems and is up to date with best practices and emerging trends in Experiential Design. Gaming experience is a major plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead your team by engaging in design decisions and setting the overall design direction that best aligns with business and client objectives
- Take an active role in growing the team by facilitating interviews, hiring, training and mentoring a fully distributed, diverse team of design experts cultivating a department that is aligned with company goals and philosophies
- Responsible for your design teams meeting utilization targets as it relates to the project
- Help test new features and tools before they are deployed to the rest of the team
- Creates product designs, user personas, wireframes, user flows, site maps, product journeys, visual design, prototypes and other usability assets as it relates to the user experience
- Responsible for design decisions as it associates to HCD related to your assigned projects within company portfolio
- Contribute to the strategy and growth in all areas of design including CX, UX design, UX research, content strategy and visual language
- Effectively translate design concepts to other executive leadership and clients in order to bring ideas from concept to fruition
- Engage and interact with others across art, engineering, product, strategy, QA, analytics and operations to increase mutual understanding of our individual work streams, to remove blocks and silos, and ensure smooth hand-offs and delivery
- Be a key stakeholder in developing and conceptualizing a comprehensive HCD design strategy for the brand that evolves to meet the company needs and expectations
- Collaborating with internal and external designers to ensure the creation and delivery of bespoke experiences as it relates to HCD
- Providing advice and guidance on the implementation of UX research methodologies and testing activities in order to analyze and predict user behavior
- Follow brand guidelines and standards as it relates to product development within the HDC ecosystem
Required skills
- A minimum of 5+ years UI/UX design experience for digital products or services with management and leadership experience desired
- Thorough understanding of how to design and optimize UX/UI systems, features, and user experiences
- Excellent creative, analytical and organizational skills with proven ability to write, communicate and maintain detailed design documentation throughout project life cycle
- Demonstrative proof of an open-mined, progressive thinker who is flexible, energetic, and driven with the ability to overcome obstacles and challenges with working solutions
- A portfolio of professional UI/UX design work for both web and mobile platforms
- Working knowledge of the following technologies and software: Figma, Sketch, InVision, Visio, HTML, CSS (SCSS), iOS, Android, Design Systems, and Adobe Creative Suite
- A team with great interpersonal skills player who succeeds at working independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail
- Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
Bonus points
- Blockchain and/or crypto project implementation experience - ideally Ethereum based
- Having worked in a startup as well as in a big corporate environment
- Diegetic and/or skeuomorphic user interface experience a plus
- Gaming industry experience preferably mobile and console
- Motion Graphics experience and working knowledge within 3D applications preferably Adobe After Effects and Maya
- Having worked in a remote environment
