We are seeking a Fund Controller to join our dynamic team in a high-growth digital asset company. This position is flexible in title (Senior Fund Controller) and compensation, based on experience and team structure. 

Responsibilities

    • Serve as the primary liaison between the fund and third-party fund administrator 
    • Review and approve NAV calculations, investor statements, and other administrator-produced reports 
    • Manage capital calls, distributions, and valuation activities for investment funds 
    • Implement and oversee shadow accounting processes to independently verify critical financial data, especially concerning investment holdings
    • Manage the resolution of discrepancies in administrator-produced reports 
    • Ensure compliance with fund-specific regulatory requirements and reporting standards (SEC, FCA, GAAP) 
    • Coordinate and manage annual fund audits with external auditors 
    • Oversee the preparation and filing of fund tax returns (K-1s) with external tax advisors 
    • Liaise with tax advisors to ensure optimal tax structuring for the fund and its investments 
    • Ensure timely delivery of accurate GAAP-based financial statements to fund investors 

Qualifications

    •  5+ years of experience in fund accounting roles 
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance  
    • CPA 
    • Strong knowledge of SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) and US GAAP, particularly related to investment funds 
    • Some knowledge of FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) guidelines a plus, but not required 
    • Understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology a plus, but not required 
    • Knowledge of partnership tax rules, PFIC regulations, and Schedule K-1 
    • Experience with annual SEC audits and compliance reviews, including audit requirements for Registered Investment Advisers (RIAs) 
    • Experience with both fund operations and management company accounting a plus 
    • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems (Sage), and advanced Excel skills 
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting 
    • Capacity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment 
$145,000 - $165,000 a year
Compensation: The expected base salary for this New York based Fund Controller position ranges from $145,000 - $165,000, in addition to discretionary non-cash and/or discretionary cash incentives. The actual base salary will be determined on an individual basis taking into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, relevant certifications, skills, and geographic location. In addition to base salary and the competitive benefits package listed above, this position is eligible for additional types of compensation, including target-based incentives.
