The Role

A highly skilled and motivated Lead Blockchain Engineer is sought to develop Superduper's advanced platform for cross-chain payment and trading solutions. This role involves designing and deploying innovative solutions to address Web3 challenges encountered in various applications, spanning DeFi to iGaming. The primary objective is to construct a foundational blockchain capable of supporting rapid and efficient transactions.

This hands-on role demands technical expertise and leadership to grow the team, managing existing and new products. 

Reporting to the Principal Architect, the engineer will collaborate with leadership to simplify the on-chain experience for developers and users.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering team

  • Collaborate with the Principal Architect to define and implement engineering best practices

  • Oversee the development and scaling of data-driven applications and APIs

  • Ensure the team adheres to best practices in software development, security, and infrastructure management

  • Drive adoption of DevOps practices, particularly focused on GCP and Infrastructure as Code 

  • Stay up to date with emerging web3 technologies, focusing on innovations that will simplify architecture and enable faster delivery 

  • Design, build, ship and maintain a custom blockchain

  • Foster a culture of innovation, speed, and operational excellence within the engineering team

  • Take on ownership and maintenance of existing products alongside designing and building new ones from scratch

  • Ensure that everything shipped to production has been tested and is to a high standard

Must haves 

  • 7+ years of software development experience, including 3 years relevant to blockchain engineering

  • Proven track record of technical leadership within a close knit team

  • Ability to manage the full SDLC

  • Fluent in a range of languages, including Typescript & Go

  • Experience working with complex distributed systems

  • Has designed, built and shipped custom low-level on-chain solutions

  • Strong understanding of L1 and L2 architectures, including knowledge of EVM, Solana, and rollup ecosystems

  • Familiarity with Zero-Knowledge Proof systems

  • Expertise in foundational blockchain elements, including consensus algorithms, Merkle trees, state machines, and cryptographic signatures

  • Proficient in smart contract development across EVM chains and Solana

  • Experience deploying into Kubernetes clusters

  • Experience with building and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience scaling SQL and NoSQL databases e.g. Postgres, MongoDb

  • Experienced in event driven architecture design

  • Proven track record of collaborating with teams cross-functional outside of engineering and product

  • Comfortable working with a high level of ambiguity in a startup-like environment
