Copper’s Information Security department secures the business’s systems and network resources to protect company, staff, and client data. The Security Operations Principal is responsible for Copper’s incident detection and response capability, threat intelligence, and penetration testing.

Key Responsibilities of the role

  • Lead the global Security Operations capability within Copper.
  • Work on projects with high strategic impact, setting the long-term strategy for security testing and monitoring within the organisation.
  • Coordinate the cybersecurity element of Copper’s incident response process.
  • Develop and deliver threat intelligence at the operational and strategic levels to the broader Information Security department and, where relevant, to stakeholders across the business.
  • Manage and direct Copper’s internal and external penetration testing programmes.
  • Communicate with a broad range of senior stakeholders and be responsible for designing the vision, principles, and strategy for security operations within the business.
  • Research, identify, validate, and adopt new technologies and methodologies.

Your experience, skills and knowledge

  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT – You have extensive experience in the technical analysis of cybersecurity incidents and have led the triage, investigation, and containment/eradication/recovery phases of incidents within a high-paced environment.
  • THEORY & PRACTICE – You have an excellent understanding of the principles, theories, practices, and techniques associated with implementing technical security and can translate this into robust and repeatable processes.
  • COMMUNICATIONS – You demonstrate an expert understanding of security concepts and their application at the highest levels of risk complexity and can effectively communicate these concepts at the most senior levels to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • RISK-BASED DECISION MAKING – You can be trusted by senior risk owners as an expert in security and can apply risk methodologies at the most complex levels of risk.

Desirable

  • COMPLIANCE & STANDARDS – While not essential, direct experience of meeting standards such as IS27001, SOC2, and NIST CSF would be highly beneficial.
  • MANAGEMENT & MENTORING – Previous experience of leading a team would be beneficial.
