CoinDesk's vision is to become a mass market media platform as crypto achieves mass adoption for the “next generation” of investors. As this generational shift opportunity begins to unfold, CoinDesk has kicked off a multi-million-dollar scaling initiative to achieve its vision and aspirations with new investments in its entire business line including content operations (news, data, research, and video), digital products (website, mobile, apps, and even their own currency, $DESK), and live events (trade shows, conferences, seminars, and meet-ups).

CoinDesk also has the opportunity to reimagine the digital media/platform business model and overcome the misalignment of incentives that centralized social media gatekeepers have brought to the media ecosystem. CoinDesk is as well placed as any media outlet to start to change that broken system. Employing user-centric, blockchain-enabled incentives and attention measurement tools, it can strengthen publisher and audience engagement, enhance privacy, and deliver comprehensive, monetizable data to advertisers and other stakeholders.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the CoinDesk VP, Product and dotted line reporting into CoinDesk’s Editor-in-Chief.

The Director of SEO will play a key role in continuing to grow CoinDesk, which is doubling in size annually and reaching tens of millions of people every year. We have big aspirations, and the chosen candidate will have all the tools at their disposal needed to make CoinDesk the No. 1 organic site in crypto media. This key member of the team will be responsible for working cross-functionally across the CoinDesk organization to implement and educate on SEO best practices in line with the goals and metrics determined by the CEO. They will run daily SEO operations in support of these goals and be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy that will extend the reach and amplification of CoinDesk across search, newsletters, social networks, and more. To accomplish their objectives, the Director of SEO will closely partner with the editorial team to identify new content strategy opportunities and advise on day-to-day optimizations, such as crafting headlines for search and social media.

  • Ability to strategically set goals and priorities and align a team behind achieving those outcomes.
  • A test and learn mentality. You may not have the knowledge today to crack every aspect of the Google algorithm, but your curiosity to actively test & learn will decipher the evolving nature of how to rank #1.

  • Crypto knowledge is a plus and crypto curiosity is required.
