Creative Director
The Marketing Team seeks an experienced Creative Director to design and own our creative vision. Reporting to the CMO, you will partner at the Product, Community and Corporate levels to develop insight-driven breakthrough campaigns that communicate the evolution and benefits of the Metaplex Protocol. The Protocol empowers creators to build their own storefronts, games, collections and more - you will develop a brand world and system that inspires, scales and flexes to storytell on behalf of our partners while remaining aesthetically and deeply true to who we are. This is a senior, critical role that will require a love of the work itself to build in uncharted territory.
As our first Creative Director, you’ll get to:
- Define the visual identity, brand world and creative expression of Metaplex
- Own storytelling, asset design/production and brand consistency of multi-platform content, from live events and master classes to ebooks, video and metaverse
- Manage and mentor creative talent (illustration, motion graphics etc.) including a mix of contractors and a lean in-house team of your design
- Partner with the Marketing, Community, and Developer teams to build IRL worlds that deepen builder relationships at hackathons, conferences and more
- Collaborate with stakeholders in leadership, Product and across the organization to influence our corporate marketing strategy while avoiding common go-to-market memes of the web3 ecosystem
The right candidate has:
- The ability to sell in and drive strategic vision informed by hyperawareness of the market, trends and our internal values
- Can easily assume leadership and responsibility on projects that require collaboration with other departments, for example go-to-market plans for a new feature launch
- Can create alignment across multiple stakeholders
- A best-in-class portfolio that demonstrates diverse thinking across a mix of subjects and digital and offline channels, each developed around one creative truth that drives the work. Experiential design, brand planning, motion graphics, illustration, storyboarding, art direction, casting and more will be relevant here.
- Mastered a balance of left- and right-brained leadership. Inspires their organization to create without boundaries, while maintaining an extremely high orientation toward detail, process and communication. Can keep a production plan on target, drive toward deadlines.
- Succinct and compelling writing ability. You know how to clearly communicate our value propositions and the direct benefit of our solutions. Understands highly technical concepts and can translate into common language that captures audience mindshare
- Passion and knowledge of NFTs and web3 required
- 8+ years of agency or corporate creative direction or brand management experience required; experience running or building an in-house creative studio or team preferred
- 3+ years of people management experience
- Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and confident to develop a plan and execute. This role will begin as a team of one with external resources and will grow to manage a team over time
- An existing roster of contractors and agencies to wind up high quality support quickly, and the ability to inspire and communicate with them effectively
- Excellence in all forms of native English communication: positioning, concepting, writing
- Demonstration of commitment to client service and professionalism
