Description:
Voice is seeking an intellectually curious and impeccably organized Legal Operations Generalist to support the SVP Finance & Operations in the day-to-day legal functions of the organization. The ideal candidate enjoys wearing multiple hats across various functions of an organization and is seeking to apply their strong legal understanding and background in a tech startup context. This individual is a voracious researcher and as such enjoys going down research rabbit holes with the aim of understanding what questions to ask. Legal aspects of the business include, but are not limited to contracts, copyright, trademarks, intellectual property, securities, NFTs, cryptocurrency, money transmission, data privacy, and more. The ability to manage a diverse workload in changing environments is a must.

Where you’ll make an impact:
- Legal Affairs
- Ensure the organization is in compliance with group by-laws and policies, as well as contractual obligations with external vendors
- Maintain public-facing documents and ensure they are up-to-date with policies and product developments, in collaboration with Customer Operations, Product, and external legal providers, as needed
- Advise Customer Operations and Engineering on copyright and data privacy matters in collaboration with external partners, as needed
- Maintain internal content moderation guidelines in collaboration with Customer Operations
- Review legal invoices and liaise with external legal providers
- Manage legal filing system and legal-oriented inboxes
- Contracts
- Manage the Contract lifecycle, including but not limited to: gathering terms from business leads, administering and managing the process to outsource contracts to external contract lawyers for review, drafting, modification, execution, amendments, renewals, and overseeing the output of external contract lawyers
- Review all contract documentation, including master agreements, statements of work, renewals, amendments, etc., with the appropriate vendor(s)
- Collaborate with business leads to negotiate legal terms and scopes of work with a goal to protect company interests and quality assurance
- Disseminate contract documents to the appropriate parties, externally and internally
- Maintain a centralized file, storage and documentation system for all contract-related material
- Update contract templates and exhibits in collaboration with external legal provider
- Reconcile discrepancies related to contract invoices with Finance
- Act as point of contact between Voice and external contract lawyers
- User Compliance and Activity
- Oversee the guidelines used for KYC, CDD, and EDD processes, including sanctions screening and transaction monitoring on the Voice marketplace platform
- Oversee the output of third party FCC systems, including managing escalations requiring regulatory reporting when needed
- Partner with Customer Operations in Investigating potentially suspicious behavior and escalate any suspected money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and/or sanctions violations internally and report on as required by law
- Escalate fraud-committing actors to appropriate regulatory authorities
- Vendor Compliance and Onboarding
- Collect various forms necessary for the onboarding of new vendors in the ERP System, including but not limited to tax compliance and banking information
- Obtain insurance certificates from vendor or broker as required by contractual terms
- Generate requisitions in compliance with contract terms
- Perform due diligence (vetting) on potential vendors and entity users of the platform
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, law degree is a plus
- In-house legal experience as a paralegal, junior lawyer or contracts manager/administrator, preferably in a high growth tech startup or media company
- Bonus points if you have experience with Netsuite, DocuSign, G Suite, ComplyAdvantage, CSI WatchDOG Elite, Confluence, and/or Intercom
- Extra bonus points if you have experience with NFTs, crypto, payment technology, and/or fintech
