Position: Part-Time Employee


Location: JRNY Gallery


Hours: 20-30 Hrs/Week as needed depending on schedule/events

Job Summary:

As a part-time employee at the art gallery, you will play an integral role in supporting the gallery's operations and providing excellent customer service to visitors. You will have the opportunity to work closely with artists, art enthusiasts, and other members of the gallery staff, contributing to the vibrant and creative atmosphere of the establishment.

Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Greet and welcome visitors, providing them with information about the gallery, current exhibitions, and featured artists.
  • Answer inquiries, assist with purchases, and handle transactions through the gallery's point-of-sale system.
  • Offer guidance and insight into the artwork on display, helping visitors appreciate and understand the pieces.

Exhibition Support:

  • Assist with the installation and dismantling of art exhibitions, ensuring artwork is displayed appropriately and according to curatorial guidelines.
  • Help with the labeling, inventory, and organization of artwork, ensuring accurate documentation and tracking.
  • Monitor the gallery space, ensuring the safety and security of the artwork and visitors.

Event Assistance:

  • Support the planning and execution of gallery events, including exhibition openings, artist talks, workshops, and receptions.
  • Help with event setup, arrangement of furniture, catering coordination, and other logistical tasks as needed.
  • Interact with guests during events, providing assistance, and creating a positive experience.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Assist with general administrative duties such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and managing gallery correspondence.
  • Maintain an organized and tidy gallery space, including the reception area, exhibition rooms, and storage areas.
  • Support inventory management, including art sales, shipping arrangements, and artwork loan tracking.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for art and a good understanding of different artistic >
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with visitors and artists.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work independently.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or gallery-related role is desirable but not essential.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and special events as required.
  • NFT/Crypto experience a plus
