Senior Chief of Staff to CTO

Parity is one of the world's most experienced core blockchain infrastructure companies, having built and pioneered some of the most advanced technologies in the blockchain sector. Parity was founded by Dr. Gavin Wood, co-founder and former CTO of Ethereum, the primary engineer behind the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), inventor of the Solidity programming language, and primary author of the Ethereum Yellow Paper.

Based in Berlin, London, Lisbon and Zug Parity has built clients for Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Zcash and has pioneered a completely new, next-generation blockchain protocol with Polkadot and the framework it’s built with, Substrate. Parity builds the open-source technologies needed to power an unstoppable, decentralised web—known as Web3—and helps developers and organisations implement and build upon the Web3 tech stack.

With a remote-first, global team, Parity is building open-source technologies for developers and organisations to implement and build upon. Our Web3 tech stack includes Polkadot, Substrate, and Kusama.

People in our collective are

  • Highly motivated to contribute to Parity’s mission and be part of something bigger

  • Excited to work on projects that are groundbreaking and complex

  • Autonomous workers that self-initiate, but also collaborate well with others

  • Taking maximum accountability and having minimum ego at work

  • Comfortable with chaos and adapting to the ever-changing Web3 space

  • Continuously educating themselves about Parity and the wider ecosystem

About the team

As Senior Chief of Staff, you’ll play a central role in our Engineering, Developer, Data, and Security teams. Also working with our People and Talent Partners, you’ll help create a culture of performance, and innovation within the company.

About the position

As Senior Chief of Staff to the CTO, you will be at the forefront of driving strategic initiatives, overseeing complex projects, and ensuring seamless execution across departments. You will serve as a trusted partner, helping to manage key priorities, support high-level decision-making, and ensure that the company’s objectives are met efficiently. Your role will span a broad scope, from transforming program execution to revolutionizing relationships with ecosystem partners. This is a pivotal role where you will navigate complex challenges, and support the CTO’s leadership by making informed decisions that drive impactful results.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee Business Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of the CTO’s office, streamlining processes for operational tasks and coordination of key projects.

  • Drive Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritise objectives and align resources.

  • Programme Management Transformation: Refine programme management processes to improve efficiency, ensuring seamless execution.

  • Ecosystem Partnerships: Cultivate long-term, strategic partnerships with key ecosystem players to drive collaboration and mutual growth.

  • Manage Budgets: Oversee the CTO’s budget, including travel, team events, operational costs, and financial allocations. Ensure effective management and regular communication of budget updates, with timely reviews and adjustments.

  • Drive OKR, Strategy, and QBR Processes: Lead the OKR process to align team and company goals. Develop strategic initiatives with the CTO’s vision and manage the QBR process to track progress and adjust strategies.

  • Monitor and Measure Impact: Utilise data and analytics to assess the performance of key projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with KPIs and continuously refining strategies to optimise outcomes.

About you

  • Proven Leadership Experience: Experience operating at executive level in a fast-paced environment, where you have led teams and influenced key decisions. You lead by example, empowering teams to achieve objectives through clear direction and support. Experience working within Tech/Engineering teams is advantageous.

  • Understanding of Technical Concepts: You have the ability to grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into actionable insights that drive business decisions and team collaboration.

  • Business Acumen: A solid understanding of the business and its customers, enabling you to make decisions that align with both operational and strategic goals

  • Strategic Thinker: You combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, driving measurable outcomes.

  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills: You’re a natural collaborator, able to create relationships and build trust with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Highly Organised and Efficient: Exceptional project management skills, with a track record of successfully managing complex initiatives from conception to execution while maintaining strong attention to detail.

  • Accountable Decision-Maker: You can execute key decisions while remaining accountable for any outcomes.

  • Analytical and Data-Driven: You leverage data and insights to guide decisions, continuously refining strategies based on evidence and performance metrics.

  • Confidential and Discreet: You have a high level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.

  • Adaptable and Resilient: Flexible to adapt to evolving priorities and able to navigate in a rapidly changing environment

  • Skilled Manager: Demonstrated ability to deliver results effectively through clear direction, resource management, and team leadership.
