About the job:
Unlimit is looking for a Country Head to lead the Zambian Payments business.
Working out of a new modern state-of-the-art office, in Lusaka, you will oversee and lead the country. You will be responsible for managing strategic relationships at the highest level across the industry and driving the growth of the business in Zambia. This is a hands-on role where you are expected to be involved in all facets of the business, and be able to lead or delegate as necessary to get the job done.
Initially you would be more involved with the operational tasks, such as forming business relationships with various payment providers and mobile network operators and managing the external stakeholders such as lawyers, and the Bank of Zambia.Â
The role is also responsible for business development and sales, when all the pre-launch operations and relationships are in place.
Responsibilities:
- Build on and manage your existing strategic relationships within the payments and banking sector and with the regulator
- Develop, enlarge and leverage a portfolio of local payment schemes in the region
- Oversee the product roadmap for local payments and act as the point of communication with APM's representatives
- Lead commercial discussions and negotiations, and have knowledge of what payment method pricing should be in order to be competitive
- Partner with multiple stakeholders in the industry (e.g. vendors, regulators, Accountants, Lawyers, etc.)
- Continually advise the leadership team about current trends in the Zambian market and provide input into any new or local product requirements
- Credibly advise the leadership team on Unlimits’ best route to market, and business priorities and strategy from the outset
Experience and mindset:
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a recognized payments company (gateways, banks, online payments, or with other payment providers)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Strong business development experience within the payment industry in Zambia
- Attention to detail and the ability to communicate across all levels of management from C-Suite downwards
- You will have deep experience in the payments or the banking industry and an understanding of the digital and technology needs of a Global payment gateway
