About Thesis*
Thesis* is a crypto venture studio behind the behind Fold, Keep, tBTC, Saddle, and Tally Ho! We’re a fun, down-to-earth, fast-paced, highly collaborative, and fully remote team.
Thesis is looking for an experienced, highly organized Director of Finance to own and oversee new and existing Finance procedures across the company. The Director of Finance needs to have a deep understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP and IFRS) and is “extremely” curious and passionate about the crypto world.
This role is essential to the success and development of the accounting team and leading by example, bringing in a nurturing positive attitude and going above and beyond is mandatory. This is a remote position and reports to the VP of Finance.
About You:
- You are analytical and love to develop a plan for accounting, finance and auditing processes
- You are capable of creating, analyzing, and documenting internal processes and systems
- You love managing monthly, quarterly and annual finance statements and audit trail documentation
- You’re able to work in a team, either on-site or autonomously as a remote member of the finance team, but also have the ability to meet up and collaborate in person
- You’re capable of implementing new processes in a fast paced startup environment
What You’ll Do:
- Working alongside the Sr. Accountant both reporting and work closely with the VP of Finance
- Executing the day to day crypto transactions, prepare liquid asset reports
- Manage the relationship with our tax and accounting administrator(s)
- Manage multiple project budgets
- Create and implement a communication cadence across departments, maintaining and improving upon our existing finance system
- Support and implement budget controls across projects
- Hire, train, and manage the Sr. Accountant
- Work closely with the Operations and PeopleOps teams on company issues and daily business operations. Provide supporting financial materials to liaison between our Steering Team, Board of Directors and shareholders
- Oversee rationalization of finance support and services provided to our current and future portfolio companies
- Manage the outsourcing accounting administrator and tax team through day to day communication and review of the month-end close and year-end process, including ensuring timeliness, completeness and accuracy of the financial packages
- Answer investor requests, in relation to business updates and the year-end audit requests, respectively
- Other duties as assigned
Ideally, What You’ll Have:
- 8+ years of required relevant work experience (Big 4 experience preferred)
- Experience managing portfolio companies on budgets, headcount planning, tax planning
- Ability to provide suggestions for process and control improvements and develop procedures to maximize accuracy and efficiency across the board
- Experience identifying and implementing process and control improvement in a growing company
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Sheets and other computer applications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA
