Metatheory Inc. is a technology-driven entertainment company building Web3 games, interactive multi-platform stories, and virtual world experiences imagined across innovative collective story franchise IPs. We are a remote first dynamic team of builders, developers, and entrepreneurs including several key founding members of Twitch along with multiple Emmy and Peabody winning producers and storytellers.
Our flagship IP is DuskBreakers, an eccentric, interactive sci fi saga set in a post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious alien ship (The Dusk) becomes a beacon of hope for humanity. The franchise spans games, animated content, NFTs, and other media formats.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated associate to join our business operations team. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, organized, and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about games and broader Web3 adoption. You will be scoping out and executing key initiatives across the business, both helping to solve internal operational problems, while also conducting R&D – digging into market developments, external business models, and commercial opportunities that may be impactful to Metatheory. You will help us achieve our business growth goals from strategy through execution.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on market trends, technology and commercial developments; map out value chain and Metatheory positioning
• Extract insights from analysis and apply to ongoing Metatheory product and commercial development
• Identify key business needs; work closely with internal teams and leadership to develop solutions and facilitate execution
• Support on corporate development initiatives, fundraise, and related activities
• Source, assess, and monitor new investment, M&A and partnership opportunities
• Manage necessary documentation; write internal memos and meeting notes, manage CRM systems, draft investor updates, etc.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree from a top-tier university
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, engineering, mathematics, physics, economics, or related quantitative field is preferred
• 2+ years in investment banking, consulting, venture capital, start-ups or gaming is preferred
• Baseline understanding of blockchain technology and experience reviewing white papers and / or crypto projects strong preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• A proactive approach and growth mindset
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, excel, and other analytics tools

Candidates should be comfortable working in a remote, fast-paced, fluid, and ever-changing startup environment. We are currently remote first and will always embrace work from home culture, although we may have some more offices in the future. Candidates should be excited about the future potential of blockchain, but no prior experience is required.
